OK...I'm trying to get a good balance on quiet and performance for my WC setup. I'm looking for input from someone out there who is more knowledgeable than I am (that's almost everyone!) about these 2 scenario's for quiet and well performing rad fan setup.

Option 1: 3 D12SL-12 Yate Loon fans (47 CFM, 28 dBA) pulling room air from the outside of the case and blowing through the rad.

Option 2: 6 Scythe S-Flex fans (33.5 CFM, 8.7 dBA) with 3 pulling air from the outside and blowing through the rad, and with three on the other side pulling from the rad.

Putting the cost of the fans aside, will the Scythe option give comparable performance to the Yates? Thanks for any input.

WC parts:

Laing DDC 3.2 (18W) w/ Petra's top
MCR320
D-Tek Fuzion
Koolance FC 2900XT block
MCRES or T-Line...still up in the air

the YL will perform better than the scythe ones you referenced. as they are higher cfm.

besides YL having higher cfm, the scythe s-flex rated at 8dba ARE NOT 8dba... quite a bit higher... but I think still quieter than the Yate Loon SL series... but the S-flex is not worth the extra cost, for lower throughput and somewhat lower sound levels

On an MCR320, definitely the three SL Yates.

If you had a PA series, I imagine it would actually be very close....with the S-Flex fans being quieter (and ~5x the price).

I'm doing all I can to keep this quiet...can anyone give me an estimate of how much of a performance hit I would take if I went with the Scythe option? Thanks.

Edit: Also, keep in mind I already own the Scythe fans...got them for $5 each from a friend.
