Hi guys, I'm in need of some real help here.

I recently rebuilt my computer with the parts in my sig. Everything is looking fine, but I simply cannot managed to get XP to boot so I can install it.

In the BIOS, I've got it set to boot from my DVD drives. Windows XP is in the drive (I've tried both). I restart, and instead of the screen that says "Click here to load from CD...", I get this message:

Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert Boot Media in select boot device and press a key.

Well, I've got the correct drives selected as my boot device, and the boot media is definitely in the drive.

I'm using Liteon DVD burners, connected via IDE. The jumpers in the back of the drives are set correctly for slave and master, and the drives are properly listed under the boot device menu in the BIOS.

Is there some setting I'm missing? I've looked thru the manual to no avail. I'm just tinkering around trying to get something to work...so far no luck. Any thoughts? This is getting frustrating!

try loading setup defaults and reboot. Go back into bios and set boot priority to your cd/dvd drive and boot again with the disk in the drive.

Your CD disk may just be dirty or damaged. Try to clean the disk and if that doesnt' work try a different disk.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have an original XP SP2 Copy...nothing pirated. It's a genuine MS copy.

I did load all defaults, and restart, and that didnt work either.

I'll double check the disc to make sure its clean and everything, but I also tried to load my copy of Vista, and that wouldnt work either!

Any other thoughts? This is very frustrating.

Ive also hit F8 during POST and selected the DVD drive that way, and it still wont load it.

What is your HD (IDE or SATA)?
