i have a e6750, p35 DS3L, 2 gigs of patriot eXtreme ddr2-800, sapphire x1950xt, 1 IDE optical, and 3 HDD's, and 1 case fan that works

im getting a failure when playing cod2, the screen will go into error adn there will be a really annoying noise, that will loop until system is rebooted

can this be

A) Under powering of GPU?(ive tried taking 2 500gb's out, and it still failed)
B)Over Heating of Gpu(hits 90 under load 60 idle)
C) Faulty Ram( will be running prime 95,orthos and mem test asap)

thanks! and whats the best psu, 550watts+ on ncix.com?

thanks soo much

What error messages are you getting? And, can you take a look at the Windows event viewer and see what you are getting there at the time of the crash?

Right click MY COMPUTER, click MANAGEMENT, click EVENT VIEWER, click SYSTEM. If you see any events with a red X for an error, Google the error code.

all the event view errors are toward the cd-rom, while i was running memtest this morning

The Windows Event Viewer will not give you errors relating to Memtest as Memtest runs in DOS, not Windows. Have you tried running something like 3DMark 06 to see if other 3D apps stress the system enough to get it to crash?

Are you running ATItool or ATI tray tools?

This is very important!

Punkbuster screws with it now. You must shut down ATItool/ATT before running a game otherwise after a little while it hardlocks the PC, usually with an annoying looping noise (comes from the speakers).

I had this problem and it drove me up the wall until I found out what it was. Now it still annoys me (PB software sucks sometimes, now it runs in the background all the time!) but at least I know what to do while playing games.

Hope this helps!

Sparky, you owe me a monitor, I killed that bug with a burst from my AK-47 :frag:

JK, that was funny when I saw that

Thats weird you are having issues. I am powering the following with rig using the 450VX with no issues

6 Fans
1 HD
Q6600 O/C 3.0GHZ
8800GT O/C slightly
sound card

My voltages are spot on with no issues.

Refer to my post above, I believe that his problem was not the PSU but rather stupid punkbuster hating on ATItool (providing he was running it of course).
