I am new to PC building so I know this is a stupidly simple question for most people but I'm not sure. I have a P5K-D motherboard and have a simple setup with a single SATA hard drive and SATA optical drive. I have the hard drive attached to SATA port 1; which is a red master port. Should I connect the optical drive to a red master port such as port 2 or a black slave port such as port 3.
Also I read a while back that the black memory slots on the P5K-D are optimised for overclocking is this true?
Thanks, Anthony

Well 5 and 6 are master ports and 4 is a slave port; so are you saying it doesn't matter whether it is in a master or slave port?

ehm, sata does not have master/slave...
each sata device is a master as it can be only one per cable..
it really doesnt matter which port you choose
