Not a flare else I'd well, not be asking, but instead this is for a gauge into another little fitting. Any one got a recommendatino on some epoxy or goop? Seen it many times before on others at these sorta joints, gray or blue stuff.

I'm a teflon tape guy from way back. I used to be a high pressure gas well technician, payed for my tuition that way. I've seen teflon tape help worn out 2inch pipe fittings hold 10,000psi. That's kind of besides the point, but tape isn't messy is probably why I still like it. Wrap CW looking at the fitting end so that the tape doesn't roll itself out of the threads. If you keep the tape only on the threads that will engage, you'll not see anything but a thin white line, much better looking than a pile of goop.

Tried tape, no worky. Used like 3-4 wraps, and leaked straight thru. So goops the way I gotta go.
never been using teflon tape.. only locktite sealing for hvac stuff. but honestly the thread on gauge is like a cone so it shouldn't be necessary with anything if you screw tight enough.

These are manifold gauges, not panel gauges. So no, not a flare.

Not quite true Tim, the threads are tapered, and they do make a nice metal to metal deformation seal, but there is a helical leak path along the peaks/valleys that must be sealed up

Right so how bout a recommendation ;)
JB Weld maybe?

Gas fiters tape will do just fine, 3 wraps and crank it in tight don deal.
Gas fitters tape is yellow and it is thicker and denser then teflon.

I use that yellow stuff, works like a charm

Any serious home building suply shop, or any Gas fire place repair shop will have it.

For the manifold? Where it screws on/in? Do you have a pic?

Pipe dope used for natural gas fittings would work good. Hardware stores should have it.
Edit: I think the connection is permanent once the dope drys.

Loctite 542. I always use it and it works good.

that looks like a compression fitting, if so then nothing, but for tapered pipe thread, then teflon tape, just wrap it the other way around if it gets pushed out, i usually twist it to a string then wrap it around the first 2-3 threads, then it gets forced over all of the threads
Edit: I think the connection is permanent once the dope drys.
pipe dope should never dry

Teflon is a strange material. When under pressure (between the windings of the thread when tightened), it behaves like a liquid and "flows" in every gap. I like teflon tape very much, I use it regularely as I service the paintpall gear of many friends. Just use enough windings of tape around the thread so you feel a nice resistance when tightening and you will have a nice tight joint. The plus of teflon tape against this liquid thread sealing stuff is that you can remove it again without problems (the other stuff must be scraped out).
IŽd just try a few more layers of teflon.

Really? Does this mean mine is gone bad? It is pretty old, around 10 years.
Edit: Its dark grey and thick.
