alright, ive read the stickies and this is what i have come up with

im getting a phase change, and will have a 680i completely insulated. That part done. so next,i was fooling around on the internet and got a wicked idea... I saw someone tear apart a soda can, sand it, bang the bottum flat, lap it, and use it as a ghetto dice container(lol!) and i thought id give it a try. I got it all setup then when lapping i ripped a hole in bottum(lol!) but i have some questions:

will isopropyl alcohol work? i don't really want to have to use some crazy chemicals....

Where do you get dice? like what kind of stores? and how much does it cost usually?

and one last question, how do you store it? is in the freezer o.k.?

thanks a ton guys!

Acetone isn't a "crazy chemical." You treat it just like you would rubbing alcohol. Its generally known its better to use Acetone because its pure alcohol.

For DI, look in the phone book for like chemical places, like Airgas. I'm not sure if they carry DI, but maybe could point to places that do.

DI is pretty inexpensive. I pay $8 for 10lbs. It used to be $7 but they weren't getting enough business so they raised the price

You can store in the freezer or any type of cooler, the colder it is, the longer is lasts, obviously.

Acetone is not pure alcohol--it is extremely toxic--the VOC (fumes) are also lethal in quantity and Acetone should be handled with extreme caution as it has a low flash point and is easily volatized. Contacting acetone with your bare skin introduces it into your bloodstream where it is a known carcinogen and can cause liver damage if in sufficient quantity as from prolonged contact.

Denatured Alcohol (available at any hardware or paint store) has a very low "slush" point and is somewhat less toxic although still quite flammable.

Acetone works a lot better than isopropyl alchahol. Just be cautious when pouring it so you don't spill it on your hand. Only about a shot is needed and it doesn't evaportate at all once it's mized with the dry ice, so no worries about fumes. You can also reuse it for out purposes.

i think im just gunna use some isopropyl, im not going for records or anything. I just wanted to mess around with it, im making the ghettoest dice container youg uys have EEVERRR seen, literally im serious the #1... modded soda can! i banged the bottum flat and lightely lapped it XD and a wetsuit for insulation. Still figuring out the mounting, ill bend some aluminum or something and maybe make my own screws.

I used Isopropyl too because it smells less than acetone;)
