Well the board finally kicked the bucket after a year of abuse! it's out of warranty ( just! ) so looking for a good future proof replacement!

I would get the p5k64 but I'm not ready to deal with ddr3, so what shold I do?

get another p5w64? or a p35 based board? I am looking to get a q6600 in october as well!

The P5K WS is not a DDR3 motherboard...it uses DDR2:

I might be able to hold out for a few weeks with a spare abit conroe board I have, we'll see. if x38 is worth the wait and they have a good replacement board.

I currently have the p5w64 ws board and I will probably be going for something more "overclocking" friendly such as the P35 or wait and see about the x38. The p5w64 is a solid board but...well, you know.

actually solid is an understatement!

I retested the board and it works! the reason I thought it was dead was a power surge that took out the power strip, the ocz psu and I assumed the board! well the board is ok and I guess I get to wait and see how x38 is.

I'm adding a line conditioner and ups while I wait for x38 tho.
