Hi want to buy a Q6600 but which board? There are a couple of things to consider i have a apogee water block so that must fit and also i would like to try some pretty serious overclocking due to cooling and stepping of cpu. I have always been a fan of abit and nvidia chipsets but will try anything. I would rather not spend more than £150 on the board but may pay more if needs be.
Your thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Anything based on a P35 chipset...for that price range probably an Abit IP35 Pro or ASUS P5K Deluxe (or if you want to save some cash, get an ASUS P5K-E like me...same board as the deluxe bar the difference in heatpipes and one LAN port vs. two).
Avoid the 680i chipset like the plague.
It might be worth waiting another month or so to see how the upcoming X38 chipset does.
Good luck!! Oh, and welcome to XS :)

sept 9th i guess is when x38 will be out from asus at least. IF u can wait a couple of weeks, i would think that's the best idea.
otherwise go with a ip35 pro abit
asus p5k dlx or premium, premium is better.
there is also a water cooled edition
the MSI p35 isnt half bad either
DFI has a really nice one from what ive seen, but its the most expesive. ITs out right?
i would get x38 honestly

I would only opt for X38 if they were DDR2 boards as I don't see any point (yet) going to the mega expensive DDR3...
Best bet P35 chipset with DDR2 support, I wouldn't recommend a mixed DDR2/3 board...
Love my P5K DLX, Abit P35 pro, Gigabyte DS4,... plenty of good boards around

Well i was thinking about x38 but how long will we have to wait before any of those boards are below £200. I was looking at the ip35 pro but the large cooling solutions on all the p35 boards made me think twice as the last thing i want is my apogee waterblock not fit. But it does look like the best option.
Cheers for the info guys just one more question any good places to read up on tweaking/understanding ddr2 memory timings?
