I have three fans here that I want replaced. They just don't move enough air past the radiator to make enough of a difference with my new core2 setup. In case your wondering, yes, its a Koolance case but you can't beat free with a steel pole.

Yeah, I know I have a screw missing as well. It was given to me in its current condition. Pardon the mess as well. Currently moving crap around and discovered many lost items. Anyway, I want to say they may be 80mm fans but im not sure. I wouldn't mind dropping better flow fans in it to get cooler temps.

Any suggestions besides ditching the case itself?

-edit-

Now that I think about it, this possibly should go into the water cooling thread but since I was thinking more of moving along air I came to the air cooling section. Mods can move if desired.

80mm or 92mm I would say.

More than likely 80mm. I have an HR-03 that comes with brackets that fits a 92mm fan and when I had them out, they didn't seem like they would have fit the bill. Maybe just 90? I plan on taking them out later to clean.

5-wire grille says 80mm....though that's not a 100% guarantee.

Pull one of the fans, there should be markings on it or just take one to a store and match..
OR..Measure it..:D

Damn, fast responses. I planned on actually buying fans from newegg, or possibly an online shop. I just don't know what would be choice fans to replace these current ones with. 80mm seems the most logical, however.

And funny thing about that yer oldness, if I may call you that, my po ass don't have a ruler anywhere in the house! Deemed as one of the things that never crosses my mind unless I need one, but by the time I come around to getting one the problem is solved anyway so I never buy it. :D

With the help of Chaos and Vapor however, I have come to an agreement and decision. 80mm it is. They look to be the size of fans I once had and knew were 80mm. Now, any recommendations to the replacements?

Which kind of fans are y ou going for, low noise, or maximum performance/CFM?

There are several stores i like to recommend for looking at fans....

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/index.html
http://www.jab-tech.com/
http://www.performance-pcs.com/

they usually always have some of the best brands in stock.

Well, the fan controller has a low fan speed and a high fan speed. I want something that can offer the most air moved at the low setting so long as the noise ain't -too- loud and nearly create a hurricane at the max speed. /exaggeration

Basically I just want the best cfm/noise ratio at both speeds. Surely it has to be better than whats in there now.

What fan controller are you using? Sorry if i missed that. And i think ill let vapor elaborate on the best cfm/noise ratio at both speeds fan scenario :ROTF:

Well, its whatever came with the Koolance case. I honestly don't know its model. I tried to look it up when I first got it over a year ago but it seems they had all but phased it from their web site. It has a normal setting, a setting where it kicks into high when it reaches a certain temp (Dunno if its reprogrammable) and a setting where its always at full blast. No dials, just two buttons. One sets temp format and the other sets mode.

Well as far as your fan selection, im gona tell you right now, with 80mm fans, anything with good amounts of CFM is gona produce significant noise, and there really isnt gona be a compromise between the two, i would get it settled right now either shoot for silence, or performance. Then we can go ahead and throw some options at you.

Performance then. I can deal with fan noise anyway. I just want to cool this thing the best I can, far from doing a major upgrade on all the components.

Now thats the first time I've been called that!
look at it this way: 80mm are just over 3: side to side, then 90's and 92's and 120's are 4.25"

top 3 running brands for 80mm high CFM i would say are

Sanyo Denki
Delta
Panaflo

but before you go buying anything, wait for others opinions here.

also, be sure to check to see whether you are wanting to fit

80x25 or 80x38

*Salute* Your age is legendary here, man. I would consider it an honor myself to be called as such! :D

And Spawne, what do you mean 80x25 and 80x38? I thought it was just as simple as 80mm?

Age may be a number indeed, but how many people do you know with such a high number over their heads who is hardcore into current computer technology? My lifelong dream is to be old.. and still tinkering with and overclocking computers. Hell, if SSI is still around thats where all my cash is going, buddy. Just by then I doubt clock speeds would exist. More something along the lines of qbits crunched or how much protein your computer is eating a day.

Oh, well happy late birthday old man. :D

And a question just happened upon me! Is it best to have the fans blowing air down upon the rad or drawing air through it?

A quick update, they are 80mm indeed and branded as "Space Fan". Made by the KNT Corp. Never heard of em honestly.

Yet another update. After doing some digging and stumbling upon the link by happenstance, the case is a Koolance PC2-601, an ancient 2002~ model. Wonder if there couldn't be ways to mod this case to fit in some better cooling gear.

Its hard to say which direction would be most efficient as i cant see how the case is built, my advice to you would be to keep it as it is blowing now.

92mm my "bet" , 80mm would look much smaller from that hight.

No they are 80 mm, i checked out my 80mm fan grills, and they are the same size.

Yeah, almost every (maybe all actually) 92mm fan grille I've seen has 6 wires, 80mms have 5. These have 5.

I'd agree with Spawne on the three brands, but that doesn't narrow the choices much :p:

Delta for ultra-high speed, Panaflo for mid-high and high, San Ace for the full spectrum (but they're rarer :()

Not by much at all. Im wanting to order from Petra's site so I can bundle up a tube of MX2, but they only have Panaflo and its out of stock. =/

Sidewinder has Sanyo, Delta and Panflo along with the tube but they only have the panaflo in the right size. The fans currently have rubber shrouds that go around each one and direct the air down upon the rad. Maybe if i get rid of the cowls I can go with a slightly fatter fan.
