View Full Version : Q6600: Temps, this isn't possible...

I'm running a q6600 on H2O. Since coretemp doesn't work in vista64, I am forced to use speedfan.
I am ONLY on water, no Tec plates or anything else like ice to cool below room temp. As we all know, its summer and hot as hell. My house is about 76F (24C).
This is what speedfan reports::shocked:

Is this a problem with speedfan or has a miracle occured (i'm betting on the former)? Also, is there another temperature program I can use in vista64?

Core (as reported in speedfan) + 15 C= Actual core temp

Thanks. You know, i forgot about that. I remember reading that somewhere.
Out of stupidity, AUX =?, Auxiliary what? 112C is WAY to high for just about anything.

BTW, I believe Coretemp does run on 64.... Are you running it as Administrator?
AUX is most likely some unused sensor point you can hide in the speedfan options. changing from diode sensor option makes it -3 i believe. you can adjust the offset in speedfan too.

Is this because speed fan reads the VID as 85c where as coretemp reads the VID @ 100C??? Core temp reads my Q6600 at idle with temps near the 28c range across all cores, and loads in the VERY LOW 50c range. Do I still need to add the +15c to the temps OR NO, cause CoreTemps reads a VID of 100c

P5K Deluxe I bet ?
same thing for me, 115-130c
P5K Premium = no such high temp

Uh, yeah it does. It's a bug on all Asus boards with Speedfan afaik. It reads 122 on my premium and never fluctuates.
If u want to let coretemp works under vista64, do either a cmd command or use VistaBootPro, and disable driver signing 64 bits

I believe Tjunction is what your talking about and not VID. VID is voltage.
You do not need to add 15c to coretemp. Pretty sure its close to acurate.
OP you can use everest 4.0 for temps as well in vista. Everest is the display on the right side.

My temps are a little higher than normal because i have 2 8800ultras in same loop as cpu. Waterkeg coming soon :yepp: :fact:

As your screenshot shows... Speedfan is 15deg below coretemp which is what was being suggested above... (not the other way around)
Add 15deg to Speedfan's core temp readings to get them to match coretemp or everest.

So does everest read temps exactly the same as coretemp on Vista 64 with a G0 Q6600 and are the temps trustworthy? The reason I ask is Everest runs great under Vista 64 unlike coretemp; I also couldn't get speedfan to work.

Also if they are the same what is the maximum safe core temp of a G0 Q6600, for 24/7 use, as read by coretemp/everest?
And is there a recommended Vista 64 compatible program to read chipset temperatures?

Under full load on my 680i/q6600 everst is normally 1-2c lower than coretemp.
