I happened to notice this distinct difference between two retail heatsinks i have, but does one cool better then the other?

I would expect the copper core to be more effective..

Same....the one on the right may be nickel plated (doubt it, but possible).
Which one is more massive?
Does either have a blue fan? (doubt it, but might as well ask)
Aren't you the one doing the HSF roundup? :p:

i think that the copper ones come on all of the 6xx0 c2d also my 6300 in the other room came stock with the copper, witch bufferers my idea

Only XEs get the blue fan HSFs IIRC....I got one with my QX6700, noisy bugger it is...

there are a few Conroe fans....0.12a most commonly, and all feature a copper core.
Quad's have larger copper core, and higher-CFM-rated fan.
The all-aluminium heatsink is about 15-20c higher temps on Conroe @ stock(tested E4300, E6600, E6700).
Even mounted on Celery 347 the cooper cooler is better by about 12c, due to the copper core, and higher CFM fan(blades are larger as is the center of fan, Alu fan is small and seems some air gets inside the "divot" in center and disturbs flow)

Interesting.
I have a Quad cooler sitting unused in my closet.
I got it along with a purchase I made for an E6600 and the person I sold the E6600 requested an original C2D HSF?
....So I ended up with the leftover Intel Quad fan.
It's about 10-15% bigger than the regular C2D and it has a blue Sanyo Denki fan on top of it.....

Sure will.
Give me about an hour or so......

The stock coolers packaged with quads have bigger copper cores, but that's the only difference as far as I can tell (for non XE quads, that is).

0.2a for duo, 0.4a for QUAD...almost like twice the airflow...AND twice teh noise.
damn 0.40a fan drove me nuts. almost as loud as 0.7a thermaltake smartfans.
nidec fans are the best so far. the fujikawa ones are 0.64A... the Delta fans are those on the aluminium cores from what i saw in stores. the MKII version of the cooler are using Nidec fans too.

Sanyo Denki made my fan....in fact, you can buy XE HSF's fan unit from them (maybe the whole sink actually).

look again the fins are alot different, closer packed and also seem to be a different shape.

What do you use to graph? I like the look....though IDK if it should be a horizontal graph. Personal preference of course.
Also, I know this a was a quicky-test, but please use dT over ambient for the graphs.
And (I hate to sound condescending if I am), just stick to Core Temp .94. Intel themselves even said that TAT should not be trusted over a trusted 3rd-party software. IIRC, TAT was written for Yonah. Core Temp and Speedfan have the proper DTS calibration for all chips (once updated at least, lol).

So you would rather see.... core temp and speedfan? Im only using core temp .94, i tried for about an hour running the new one, it crashed, as usual  temps were the same on both programs with the E4500 though.

0.20a on the stock coolers are already noisy for my tastes. :D 0.40a could drive me nuts.

I would likely use the Q series heatsink but swap the .40a fan for something else, possibly the .20a one...

My apologies for the blurry photo on the close-up.
There wasn't a lot of light and when I would try to use the flash, Intel's special sticker would reflect the light and not make the info visible.

Sanyo Denki + Copper + Size + 0.31A......things could definitely be worse for this stock heatsink.

certain coolers seem to be using different fans with different top speeds for some reason.

Lowest bidder syndrome I'd guess.
also seems to be intel desperatly making a stock cooler that can cool quads without needing a new heatsink or costing much so they do small little changes to make it work, tbh i still prefer the stock amd heatsinks.

MS Excel 2007, however i have a new chart program im going to be getting that will make really nifty animated charts that are small in bandwith usage. Those will come with the unveiling of version 2.0 of my site.
