Since people can't really help me on other forums, I'll try here now :).

About a month ago I've bought myself a new case and watercooling. I have 5*120mm fans which cool my wc and mobo really good at a almost no noise at all (all on a fancontroller). I can even put the fans off and still my cpu etc are cooled well enough.

This is the exact reason why I bought this wc-setup, I like to keep my computer on at night and I want my computer to be dead silent when I need to study.

And here comes the problem, I bought an OCZ Modstream 520w for its silent operation.. but it's not that silent at all. It is the one part in my computer which makes a noise and it really annoys me :).

Anyone here can help me with this? What fan should I replace the original with and are there any important things I need to take in consideration? I opened the psu, so warranty is already voided.

Thx

You just have to make sure that the new fan will be moving some air around to cool the unit at least as good as the original did.
I had it working with a SilenX fan for quite a long time.
I'd go for a Scythe S-Flex or a Nexus.

Check Vapor's thread here for fans comparisons ;)

Will a Yate Loon D12SL be good enough? I have these laying around here, so if it's any good I'll give that one a try...

Well, the original fan specs are 89CFM at 2300RPM, but I don't think that OCZ left the fan running at 2300RPM, it was more like 1000RPM, so it should be down to something like 50CFM with the original one, so the Yate Loon D12SL should be good enough.

I'd check the temperatures inside the PSU for a short while ( test under full stress inside the case ) to make sure everything's running cool.

Many thanks for your help so far!

Last question... how do I check the temp inside my psu? I don't have any kind of equipement to do this.

Unfortunately you have to use a DMM ( Digital MultiMeter with Temperature measurement capabilities ) or just a temperature measurement device.
