When Orthos, Prime95 and other similar programs errors out... is it always a result of too little voltage?

I often see guides that say: if orthos crashes, you need to up the voltage. Which I can totally understand for most/many scenarios. However, can temperature ever be the culprit of orthos failing?

If your system is 70 degrees at load, could that be the reason Orthos skipped a beat and failed the test? In which case better cooling is the solution, rather than more voltage?

It's funny a few years ago when I was still in my teens, I read a couple articles about overclocking and thought I knew what I was doing. Now the more I read, the more I realize I know so very little about all this stuff

when my orthos error out, my load temp was only 60C..

I presume the problem was voltage? I totally understand that in most scenarios more voltage is needed to stabilize an OC.

However, i'm asking, if it is possible that high temps are the CAUSE of orthos erroring out?

high temps can certainly be the cause if the cpu struggles and errors in its rounding calculations while under the intense stress the heat brings to the cpu. It may just crap out.

yes, it can be heat-related. or mem-timing related.
there are too much variables...

IMHE its the temps first and then the mem timings.......
