Is there a way to enable vsync for every game you play, besides checking the option in said game?

Some games do not have the vsync option, and for some strange reason, my computer hard-restarts if I do not have vsync enabled in the games I play.

I am running a x1950pro.

Look in your driver panel. Both Nvidia and ATI have the option in there.

open cc, then 3d/all settings and set it to always on, its 4 or 5 down

i dont see why u would want to do that though vsink is old and not really needed anymore, it will usually lower frames and make it so that u need more aa and or af

I believe I anwsered that in my post above:

- It's VSYNC. (as in vertical synchronization)
- some people don't like tearing. It's not "old" or "new", it's just syncing the frame buffer output to a screen refresh.

i said old because most cards use internal syncing mechanisms so u dont get frame distortion, i remember back in the day with my maxtor and my ati aiw 4mb u had to have it or the frames would do some funky renderings without it

I'd say you really don't know what your talking about.

Vertical Sync, does as the name implies. It syncs your framerate with your monitor's refresh rate to prevent tearing which can be a total gamebreaker. Some games are completely unplayable without Vsync, others you can get away without running it, it just depends.

LCD monitors are specifically prone to tearing.

I won't argue that it makes some games run like crap though - but in some cases its better than getting a headache after looking at a tearing screen for a mere 2-5 minutes.
