I have been trying to install windows xp pro (w/ service pack 2) as well as linux ubuntu.

No matter which I install, I now get this error message:

Sesssion3_Initialization_Failed

"Technical Data:
Stop: 0x0000006F (0xC0000020, 0xC0000000, 0xC0000000, 0xC0000000)

Other's have had this problem as well, but I cannot figure out my issue.

I have done the following:

1. Switched out cd/dvd drives
2. Changed voltage on ram (was set at 5 5 5 9 and should have been 4 4 4 12 @ 2.2v for crucial ballistix drr2 800 ram)
3. Taken out ram to see if I had a bad stick.

I am trying to install the OS to a new raptor x drive. I also have old drives I have tried installing to that were stripped in windows on an old setup. They should NOT be the problem since the new drive gives the same error.

Hardware:
asus p5k deluxe
q6600 (G0)
4 gigs crucial ballistix ddr2 800
ati x1900xtx
seasonic 650 watt psu

I doubt any of the other hardware is important (drives, dvd drive, case, etc)

Could the video card be giving it issues?

Sorry for the long drawn out question. I am just in a hurry to get it working b/c I start classes tomorrow!

The drive I am trying to install on is new and to my my knowledge, unformatted. I have not been able to reach a screen in the windows install that allows me to choose a partition.

The computer will load the drivers, but when it states that "setup will install windows," it hangs, then produces the error.

I have partition magic and maybe formatting it first will work. I shouldn't have to do this, but if this fixes it, great. I'm going to do this in a bit, so there should be a new reply stating if it worked or not.

I also have a windows bible book full of code errors lying around somewhere. I need to dig it up. I was wondering if anyone who has this mobo/ram combo (since many do) know what might be up.

i couldn't get partition magic to work. Probably something I am doing wrong.

I am running memtest86 right now. Its been running 20 minutes and is 15% done. Its going to be a while. If all of the ram works, then I'll assume its either the video cards (doubtful) or the motherboard is bad. I've seen a lot of p5k deluxe problems w/ sata ports and I might be one of the unlucky ones.

I'll try to install linux after the test If the test works shows there's no issues. Then if that fails, I'll either return it or try the video card.
