BOTH my 2900XT went to heaven, so I figured I had to do something with the remaining LN2. So how about putting the X6800 back where it belongs? This old beast has finally awaken, it's a week 24!

How about -150 and 2.28 vcore? I'll see if I can get 1M-screen soon.
wow, what a pitty you haven't tried a Pi1m - could have blown away everything :D
But still an amazing clock and it looks like 6 ghz is not impossible with a so called "golden chip"
really >2Vcore???

Wowowow elmor that is absolutely nuts! X6800 back on da top. :D
Thank goodness school is starting soon so I have a good excuse for dropping out of the 3D race...I would hate having to fight against THAT, lol.

Yep, I'd hate it too. If I only had this chip when C2D was released, now 45nm is closing in

Not really :D
11x266 = 2926
2926 * 2 = 5852MHz
266.66 x 11 = 2933.2mhz (True Fréquency origin on X6800)
2933.26 x 2 = 5866.52mhz (100% X6800 :) )
Not important , 5854mhz is very very impressive !!!
Great Work Elmor :)

Looking very good, congratz with the WR.
Keep pushing it.
Nice Elmor  Was already waiting for cpuz or 1M after reading this (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2370354&postcount=69) :D
Great overclock - real sad to hear about the HD2900XT um care to expand as to what happened with those two puppies?

L624a is probably the best stepping for x6800. There are many great 5ghz results with this stepping, while week 24 was one of the first retail weeks lol.

08-17-2007, 08:39 AM
I updated the first post with some more goodies.
The 2900XTs died probably because the power regulation area was not cooled enough. About L624 the reason why they have not gotten these results before is mainly because noone has dared to try this kind of voltage (2v+) ;)

Congratulations on the C2D MHz record! You've showed us once again that the trusty old ASUS P5W series boards are still unmatched when it comes to pure performance & stability at extreme clocks.

These boards along with the AW9D-Max are very solid. Strangely enough it seems that these boards have better power regulation than the newer highend-boards that crap out when they get too cold. So it is really a blast benching on these 975x-boards compared to the hell of Nvidia 680i-chipset.

6ghz is close indeed ...
@elmor: will you wait for 45nm extreme to push it to 6ghz?

It's a real bummer you killed the cards Elmor. You gotta get together with Kinc and bench that chip. 5400mhz+ on the chip and rev. 4 pots on the cards and you two could take down 35k:up:

I think this cpu can do maybe 5.9 with some more effort but I'm not going to risk it before I get to do some 3d-benches.

End of summer vacation next week so probably won't have time to go and visit him in a while.

Maybe I should put in like a E6600 and do some expirements on where they fry instantly :D
Great scores Elmor very very :sonic:
cpu voltage is awesome :toast:
Thanks Misko and everyone else! The cpu just wanted more and more vCore and more it got ;)

Yeah, sorry about that crap score.

08-18-2007, 05:39 AM
Congratulations thats amazing  I never would have thought they would keep scaling up past 2.2v maybe the max is higher than we would have ever thought? 2.5 - 3.0v runs may be possible on LN2?
Gautam
08-18-2007, 06:13 AM
Out of the Conroes I've the tried the majority stop scaling after ~1.92. Some do well with 1.95-2.0 but 2.2+ is just nonsensical.

From this it seems it kept responding to increases? Maybe just a rare case.

why arent we seeing more x6800's at the top? why do 6700's & 6600's usually clock higher?

Was over on another forum and saw their thread on elmor's WR, posted a couple of times and finally had this ass a reply...
I'm not sure about that. All these guys do is use loads of liquid nitrogen and change a couple variables in the BIOS.

ROFLMAO i joined that silly forum just to flame them lol. Thanks for the laugh man im still laughing :)
Wow, what ignorance. All they do 'over there' is remain brainless n00bs who will always fail to grasp what a really difficult journey serious overclocking is. Whats funny is they think they understand, but its clear they dont.
I guess thats why we are here at XS
