Just purchased this combination, and am unhappy with my temps,

when i first installed the heatsink, i was getting temps of around 40, and then say 47 on full load. And then as the days went on, the temps kept getting worse, up to a point where it was 60 on idle.

So today i decided to mount again, and am now getting around 60 on full load,

is this normal for a q6600, i know they are hot, but this heat sink seems to be pritty good, do you think i should get lower temps?

my old 3700 with XP thermalright 120, would hit max of 45 on full load, so im comparing it to that, keeping in mind that the quads are going to run hotter.

I followed the Quad installation guide on the artic silver sight, and am using artic silver 5.

How tightdo you guys affix the four screws, that attach the heat sink to the board?

seems if you got better the first day/after a remount, seems more like an issue of an improper mount in some way, perhaps you haven't screwed it down enough, this would be my guess, without a backplate (which I'm assuming your using) the board should appear to be flexing when screwed down properly while looking the board unmounted(this is why lots of people recommend a backplate).

As for how tight you should screw your heatsink in, this is really a touch and feel thing, I don't do Air, but with my watercooling, I screw right to the razor thin edge. basicly I screw till I think anymore and I will start breaking the board, but like I said it may not be the smartest idea unless your confortable with that like me.

how exactly did you measure though, and what fans are you using, +7C full 4 core load over idle? does not look accurate to me.

depending on ambient temps, case cooling etc... 60C full load doesn't seem odd at all.
