Question is as the title states.

I just got my Gigabyte DS3P motherboard, and it does not come with mosfet heatsinks, which makes me think they are not needed.

I do plan on ordering some in the near future, but are they necessary as in , I can't turn my computer on without them?

I will probably place a fan pointing at them for now. Will this suffice?

Well, if your computer stays a long time in full load, I recommend a heatsink there.

Generally i like to see heatsinks on mosfets...they get insanely hot.

The hotter they get the shorter the life they will have, true with any part in your computer. So putting a heatsink on them will help, and potential make for a better looking board.

I completely agree.

I just do not have any spare heatsinks on me, and the ones I do have, the tape is shot so they don't stick.

Which would you recommend for the Gigabyte P35 DS3P?

Was thinking of ordering these myself (but for a P965-DS3)...

or even these which are 3mm wider (may be too big, trying to measure with a TR UltraExtreme fitted is not easy :D )...

Could someone please confirm these are the 12 mosfet's on a DS3  ...

Does the color matter if they are made of same material? Silver or Black?

The motherboard will be outdated before the board would die from overheating.

+1

mobos doesn't need extreme cooling at all, ppl just do it for e-peens

I would suggest a fan over the heatsinks too if possible cuz they get REALLY hot.

A fan over my mosfets reduces the temps from 40 to 30.. sounds crazy but it does.

Never said you had to cool them. I'm just crazy about cooling everything I can.

Test their temperatures with a laser probe.

If they are hotter than 90c at full load (give them time to warm up, ~30 mins) then heatsinks would be good. If they are not, then you're fine for as long as you own the board pretty much.

I have a p35c and I'm wondering the same thing. I think I might put some small heatsinks on them and a 60mm fan.

Check the driver IC's as well.
