View Full Version : The Q6600 G0 was BLITZed with the Tuniq Tower

I decide find where I can push my retail Q6600 (L726A951) in the Asus Blitz Formula.
Please note these are Overclocking Results, not aimed to discover the full stable speed 24/7. For Q6600 GO 24/7 full stables speeds go to Intel section and there you can find a lot of post about that..
OK, let's the air cooling OC fun begin :D
First the photo of the setup:
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/Blitz_comTuniq.jpg
Let's see at what speed can this Air Cooled setup can run 4 simultaneous SuperPI in Core 0, 1, 2 and 3..
How about 4.100Mhz?:)
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/Blitz_AR_4100.jpg
Lets discover the MIPS under the hood :
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/Blitz_AR_SandraCPU4000.jpg
Does it run Cinebench at 4Ghz?
Oh yehh - and with a very respectable time: 10sec
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/Blitz_AR_CineBench4000.jpg
And finally, some of you may wonder: what about 3DMark2006 - can it run at 4Ghz?
Yes :p: - I raise the PCIe to 120Mhz (seems the max, 125 no go), do a very small OC in my stock 8800ultra and where are the results.
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/Blitz_AR_3DMark2006.jpg
Near 16K for a Air Cooled CPU with a single stock card :)
The Blitz Formula seems to be the P35 board of choice for people that real loves to overclok.
The only thing missing is SLI support, but with a pair 2900XT's the Crosslink may give some interesting results

Hey Pedro those temps are nice at 4Ghz..Amazing cooler looks like same 1 Eva2000 has in sum of his pics...
suppose we will see the cpu on sum cold stuff in the next few weeks ??
Cheers Hori

 4 ghz Quad on air:shocked:
and that without even having to push the air cooling to the insane...
you could try to thermalright + dual delta that cpu for even more air cooled clocking madness....
*wonders what that chip would do under ln2* damn.... need some new pants now lol

pedro post some temps using coretemp
speedfan seems to under read with the quad by about 20c

Nice overclock as always Pedro and please forgive me, but I feel that this thread isn't fully appropriate for this section. Generally air results are moved to Intel if I'm not mistaken...your air clocks are wonderful, but it is still just air.
Once again, great speeds, 4.1 for a quad on air is very impressive, I only question how this fits in with the policy for this particular section.

Some users send me PM's asking to tell them the voltages and other Bios settings to achieve this air cooled results.
I decide to post it publicly in this thread, that way all you of you can know.
Please avoid these kind of PM, the spirit of XS is knowledge sharing
Here are the Blirz bios photos, with settings used for this air cooled OC results.

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/Blitz_Bios3.jpg
As is quite obvious, SpeedFan don't read the temperatures correctly with any G0 CPU - here the readings in Everest than can be more close to the real discussion.
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/Blitz_AR_TempsEverest.jpg
Please do not start a discussion what software give the most accurate readings, there are lot of threads where you can find in XS with long discussions about that - just use the "Search" ;)
As I mention, these ar Air Cooled Overclock results - it's quite obvious that no one should use these voltages to 24/7 use !!!

Awesome results. Loving the Blitz formula.
Anyone knows if the stock NB block of this board is as good or almost as good as common NB water blocks (like Swifty MCW30) taking into account that it's also helping to cool the SB and PWM?

Xtreme Overclocking section are not fully reserved for phase / DI / LN2, some air cooled results that cann fit here if they are xtreme enought.. in my humble opinion near 80% OC results with quad core air cooled are reasonably xtreme.;) .
Here are just a few examples of Air Cooled recent threads that where not moved to Intel Section:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=155192
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=142385
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=153921
Anyway I will discussed this criteria with the other mods, if there is a consensus that Xtreme Overclocking should be reserved for Phase / DI / LN2 results, I will move this and any other recent Air and WC results thread to Intel section..

hey Pedro , has there been any confirmed perf. increase from setting the PCI-E freq. over 100?

I would say so too. :) Fair enough.

You are doing it again :D, and that cooler is really good :).
Keep pushing it.
I say that belongs to xtreme overclocking section, as I think this chip does really well and a lot better than most aircooled Q6600 ;)
Good work there Pedro, enjoyed reading here as always :)

Tested with orthos for 10 mins with Gromac score :) I tested different position of fan/s too. Each position was tested 2x.

Huge clocks for air Pedro, way to go
Definitely an Xtreme clock worthy of the section :D
Cooling doesn't necessarily make it Xtreme....some phase/LN2/DI clocks sure as heck aren't :nono: (of course, an above-average subzero clock is more Xtreme than an above-average basic-air clock ;))

Awesome overclock!! That Q6600, is really a very good chip!!
I am very impressed that you used a Tuniq to overclock that baby, is really a fresh one.
Congrats & Regards:)
Very impressive especially for air cooled nice and scores to go with it

This is the highest clock foar quads on air if I am not mistakeing, so it is really Xtreme :D Congrats sir, this is superb!

The true temp are in Core Temp 0.95 or Everest.
Because SpeedFan read Tjunction as 85ºC. For Quadcore you need to use TJunction 100ºC
Nice clock

How about this ?

4.220Mhz Air Cooled with the Tuniq, with a AC on the room :D
On 11sec air cooled superpi with 4 Core enable, these Q6600 G0's are quite impressive indeed
BTW: for the guys who PM about the VID of my Q6600 G0, seems it is 1.275v as you can see in coretemp ;)
