Ok, so I am planning to build me a little gaming rig for my dorm room using as many parts I have available.
Ive decided in order to have enough money set aside to get an awesome Graphics card (8800gt 320 or 640), I will have to buy an matx 939 mobo.
The problem right now is that there are no more biostar Tforce mobos to be found, and i know they were the best. So what should I get now?

Not sure, but I sorted them by best rating so maybe that will help. You can read what other people have posted about them.

The DFI RS482 is an excellent mATX board, a good overclocker too. There's a couple on ebay and you may be able to find a store that has some left.

if u cant find teh dfi i would go with the asus 8av-vm, the via 8x0 were the best chipsets for sub 3ghz ocing and they run way more stable than the reference nforce motherboards, u will need a little fan for the northbridge though

i have the non pci version it works great via has fully vista certified drivers for all of its chipsets form the 400 - 970, it dose raid awesomely on the via controller and i would reamed using it, u need to make a raid 0 with 2 drives and 32kb block size for it work at its best and its fast
also make sure that u get teh raid drivers from via's site and put them on a flopy or a cd (cd is for vista only), and then it works great
and for vista make sure that u get be or ulti, home wont cut it

Not trying to thread jack, but I'm looking at doing something similar. Nice to see someone using the "old" technology. Anyway, I'm running an A8V delux with a FX-55 atm. The only trouble I had when I upgraded to Ultimate was no raid driver for the promise controller. The VIA controller seemed to load fine without a disc. I loaded the Vista ide driver for the promise and it let me see the lone raptor I had.
Here's the real question. I'll be getting my other raptor back from rma in a couple of days and will also be putting in a Opteron 185. Was going to put the raptors on the via controller and use the Hitachi on the promise. Thought I could just load Vista without a driver disc on the raptors, but you seem to say no and do you know of a promise raid drive for vista. I was probably going to stay 32bit for compatibility reasons. Thanks in advance

the promise controller has drivers u use the server 2003 32-bit drivers on the asus cd that came with it, or on the asus web site

How is the vista compatibility?
Every Single AMD board created after 1998 supports sufficient amounts of Ram and sufficiently powerful enough processor to Run Vista

Sorry, no good. No big problem, I'll run the VIA raid and then run the other drive on the promise controller. Thanks again.

yes, not sure why is doesn't work, but after reboot the drive on the promise controller is no longer seen by the OS. Anyway, just wanted it to save myself time backing files up. Thanks again for your help
