Hi,
finally it's time again for me to open a topic here and show my series of Intel low-cost benching on Mach I single stage.
I had an E2140 and E2160 for getting started with S775. Maybe some of you remember me as a S939 overclocker but everybody has to change some time ;)
A picture of the parts I ordered for the final bench run during the last 3 days (E4400, E4500, E6850):
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=62881&stc=1&d=1187031221
I did not used the P965 Board - this is for a friend, I used P35-DS3P. The 8800 GTS was also for benching only and will go into my friend's system as well.
Setup for all runs:
- Gigabyte P35-DS3P
- G.Skill 2x1024MB DDR2-1066 (F2-8500PHU2-2GBHZ)
- X800 GTO for E2140, E2160, E4400 and E4500 Benches
- Mach I single stage
------------------------------E2140---------------------------------
So let's start with E2140:
100% OC 3200 MHZ on E2140 - this was FSB (hard)wall - not even 1.8V helped, iirc this was done with ~1.6Vcore.

I've done 01-06 benches with 8800 GTS if you want I can show these results as well even I think they are just quick benches (I just had a couple of hours) and not that special ;)
Hope you enjoyed all the results.

Looks like you was having some fun, looks very good.
Keep pushing it.
I have pictures of the Mach I somewhere, but looks like the webspace is killed for the moment :(
I'll add the hwbot links for E2140 and E2160 right now.
Thanks for the nice words ;)

Wow, looks like you had a fantastic summer :D
Great results, congrats :)
Thanks, I really had a good time with all that hardware here. I think it was the longest and biggest run I've ever made.
I was so happy when I saw me under TOP100 in hwbot again :)

Amazing!!!
Congrats..
Everything on air?
First sentence buddy "...Mach I single stage" ;)
The Zalman cooler in the picture wasn't used at all for the benches - every processor went directly under phase change ;)

Nice clocks an the 6850 SoF ;).
Is you Mach modded? 5 GHz indicites at least r404a... or a CPU monster.

Congrats, that is very impressive. One question keeps on popping up, and of course I will also ask you that question: is that Mach 1 modded or that E6850 is a true monster the likes we have never seen before?

Congrat's your E6850 is very fantastic cpu, 5021Mhz on S.S. is very impressive result. What's the batch number. :D
Yeah the Mach I has r507 in it iirc - last repair is one year behind but I think it was r507 again.
Sorry about the batches but I've not written down them. I was so in a hurry that I not even looked on the chips ^^
E2160: L702C576 SLA3H Malay
E4400: L705A437 SLA3F Malay
@Symphy you'll see this chip on AOCM - hope it will rock some nice 1m times ;)

Very nice scores and benches! Great work!
i think you need Fr3ak's E2140 :)
Maybe my E2140 will run better with some cold! :)
massman
08-14-2007, 06:26 AM
The E21X0 chips suffer from hard cpu walls indeed.
Troman did this (http://www.hwbot.org/signature.img?iid=24686&thumb=false) run on dry ice and 1Mhz more was lock-up :(
Every E21X0 chip >400 FSB is a good one I think...that E2160 is quite impressive :)
I think Fr3ak's chip under cold would do 20-30 MHZ FSB more and would lock up there as well - would give a nice percentage overclock :D The cheapest ones are nice toys for a couple of days and good for office and cheap all-day rigs but I wouldn't go for them under cold and high clock benching again.
E4400 and E4500 is where the fun starts, specially the E4500 run on 5 GHZ is a nice achievement to go for ;) Not sure if mine where FSB-limited as both topped out around 400 FSB like the small ones.
I just had one retail non-handpicked of each so I think some of them might have a lot more in them ;)
But my E6850 is a good bencher I think, can't wait to give it more cold end of september :D
@massman I lost a medal and you are in front of me in the "hardware junkie" ranking again :p: I hope to find any other hardware soon to go for some new medals :D
cheers :)

You will have to be quick: this weekend OCTB is doing a show on a local lanparty, where we should have enough material to do some damage (LN² and dice) :)
Hehe I will let you do, watch the results and then strike back :D
I still have my summer holidays and I should spend some time outside now ;)

Nice numbers and benches SOF. Looks like you had some fun ;)
That E2140 is not exactly mine yet. It still belongs to the company I am working for right now, but chances are very high that I am allowed to buy that particular CPU. After GC I will be able to bench sub zero on a daily basis too, so that E2140 will be my first victim I suppose. I hope sub zero and very high volts will help to clock it a little further than 45x FSB. I was able to boot with a higher FSB, but with limited time and the bad Coolermaster Hyper TX, it was too unstable to boot into windows.
The M0 E4500 ES I have kind of sucks. It is not a great clocker at all. 2.800 MHz with stock volts and only 3.700 MHz 1M at 1.6V on very good water cooling :/

I would expect the E2140 to do ~47X on DICE and maybe 48X under LN2 - anyway a good chip and you really should give it a try ;)
Nice to hear you'll be in the subzero class soon :)
And yes your E4500 seems to suck, I built an air-cooled system with my one and it does 3030 MHZ @ ~1.34V orthos stable with activated fan-control. with 1.4V and de-activated fan-control it would do ~3.2 and more I think. 1m not tested but think it should go high ;)
lol, lots of toys, nice E6850 :D
hehe thanks :)

that's what old school books are good for :D
Unfortunatly it seems that I can't visit GC :( But I still try to find a way to be there at least for some hours to see you and some others ;)

Nice chip SoF! Any idea what your evap temps are?
If the sensor is still as exact as it was after the last repair it should be somewhat around -40°C during the 1m run.
More cold and it will do sub 10s for sure - just a few weeks ;)
Finally found the time for some max FSB tests - that E6850 simply rockz...3 weeks until LN2...just can't wait anymore :yepp:

1. AOCM here in germany was so great fun and best oc show I've ever been (not that there have been many but can't be better than that) - ln2 never ended, dice as well, chips were good, systems ran good, Fr3ak made WR on E2140 on the same table - what else should an overclocker want?
I teamed up with blackpearl from Awardfabrik and we really worked well together :toast: one of the best days beside cebit this year - so here we go with some results. unfortunatly we only had short runs due to mainly preparation and contest time schedule reasons, but we made the best of it ;)
LN2 Results:
1m 9.578s 5400 MHZ 1.85V 1:1 4-4-4-4 - we even had 9.4XXs with 5445MHZ but I took too long to save the screen (yeah I was an idiot in this moment, additionally I did not had my own keyboard what totally made me crazy from time to time ^^)

4m 59.641s ~5300 MHZ 1.85V 1:1 4-4-4-4 (not sure anymore which run it was, was only to keep the cpu "warm" ;) )

I hope to be at the next AOCM :) I see you have a lot of fun there!
...and not optimalized Windows :p: for PI ;)
...
Nope wrong - it was new RAM which was not running as fast as my GSKill I had the feeling...was the same windows I did 10.266s @4950 MHZ.
Just different Ram 10.266 @5050 MHZ...didn't had the time to test the few bios ram settings which are not adjustable with memset - but on DS3P you have to do it else Pi times are low...Gigabyte P35 issue.
All in all we only had an hour or so for benching pi before the AM3 came close.
Really sad we always had to stop after less than 2 hours...isolation in the box was so good we could have benched all the day.
Here is the 9.484s run on 5445 MHZ where I took too long to save (that screen was frozen  )
