Ran some tests with my new sapphire 2900xt cards. ran whiteout dx10 demo using fraps to benchmark. Has ATI completely lost there mind or what? On there own demo crossfire is slower then single card:clap: That a boy ATI good job:shrug: first set is single card fps numbers.. second set is in crossfire same video settings:rofl: But hang on should I be laughing? cus i did spend $1000 bucks on these things. would be nice to be able to overclock in crossfire to catch up to the single card numbers lol. but lets not forget that crossfire does work on 3dmark guess ill just run 3dmark over and over again, that will be fun. I dont know fellas but this fanboy is about to convert over to the dark side:shakes: Sorry if im just ranting but im a tad pissed.
I know its funny :) Try 3dmark 06 or games you wont regret buying em.
Catalyst 7.8 will add aditional perf especially if you ae using AA.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this but I have to agree. No overclocking in CF mode is the biggest problem especially because we know these cards are very capable with insider tools. I honestly don't know why ATI doesn't address this, release the driver/BIOS check for digital signature at a minimum so BIOS overclocking is possible.

Welcome to ATI :ROTF:
lol, yah tell me about it. Someone call Matrox and tell them to make room Ati is coming. :welcome: But seriously I hope they can fix all this with drivers. The fact that they cant compete with nvidia top card is fine but to not be able to overclock in crossfire and to run slower then a single card is a joke.
They are working on solving the CF oc problem, but its allready to late it should have worked from the start. Drivers can only do so much the design of the R600 has a big handicap. To much shading power with way to little power for the rest of the work. I dont know about Vista perf but crossfire perf on XP in all games that I have tested is really good.
I think it should be posible to release a few overclocked bioses to the public, I dont see the harm in that. Especially with X38 coming out soon.

Kinc if you know someone with ATI you could ask please do, it would be awsome if you gave them some input and they did open things up for the enthusiast.

yes ,i think its a bit unfair ,i have the same problem here . 2 cards no oc  i know the cards can run 847/1000 on there own .so a fixed biose or tool would make my day . oc tools worked before on smaller cards and cf .

just go to Nvidia.
the 2900XT just isnt worth bothering with.
I have one sitting here as a paper weight on my desk... wondering what to do with it, sell it? trade it? send it back? keep it hoping crossfire might be kinda fun to try? or maybe just a nightmare, like my old X1950's were last summer.
the card OC's great, 850 on the core, and well over 1000 on the memory (like 1040 if I recall right)
but the game performane just sucked for me, which just confused me... how could a card this powerful, do so bad in the games I tried it with? (titan quest, titan quest immortal throne, oblivion, lost planet, and need for speed carbon are what I have on my PC right now)
I dunno. I might put it back in and give it another shot... cause I really hate having new hardware, and feeling like I hate that hardware... I mean, its new... I should be having some fun with it, thats how all new hardware is, just exploring what it can do, and how much it OC's and such.
thats always fun.
but from the first time I installed it, and saw it took me 3 tries to get the driver installed correctly, I just had that same bad feeling I did from last summer... drivers that barely work, bioses that cant be modded, CF that barely does anything for gaming, cards that can barely be overclocked easily... or 1 card gets overclocked, the second card is just stuck on stupid.
I really want to like this card... honestly I do...
but I feel so damn let down by it.
like dating some hot chick, then finally getting the chance to sleep with her, and watching her take her hair off, cause its a wig, her make up only covering a mountain of zits, her nice legs, are made of rubber, and those boobs you been eyeing, are filled with tissue paper.
thats what this cards been like so far for me.
my 8800GTX is boring... I've had it forever now.... too long really, literally nothing interesting about it.
but.
drivers work.
bioses can be modded easily.
overclocks work easily.
SLI works, and if it doesnt, you can make and test your own game profiles to make it work.
maybe with how good the 8800GTX has been for me, jaded me before I even got this card... but then again, is it too much to expect something to "just work"?
honestly, I'd say just go Nvidia.
thier bioses can be easily modded.
overclocking them is easy.
SLI always work, even when no profile is in the driver for a certain game, you can just make your own profiule.
I've never had troubles getting a driver to install... and I certainly dont have to install DotNET2.0 if I dont want to, just to get the driver to work.
ahhh.... just ignore me.
I am just being a grouch, cause I really wanted to have fun with this 2900XT, I mean, its new... it should be fun.
just like a hot girl should be hot...

Haha, I love that anology Kunaak :D
I'd really like to believe that the newer drivers may resolve this but somehow I just don't think it will happen.
