View Full Version : P5K Premium - VCore 1.66v - 5.070Mhz - 9 secs SuperPI

Since I'm doing a mini-review of the Asus P5K Premium Wi-fi, I decide to put it on my mini-cascade (-90ºC)

Here is photo.
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/NaCascata.jpg

Since is a review board, obviously I did not any VMod (Vcore or VDrop) so the maximum VCore on Windows is 1.66v due to the vdrop.

I dont have many expectations to go in to 9secs since my X6800 is not a "golden specimen"

Also I'm using a common Windows XP with no special superpi tweak - obviously with a full superpi tweaked win 2003 Server will be more easy.

Anyway after some memory optimization I get this:

http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/P5KPrem_9secs.jpg

Going into 9 secs with just 5.070Mhz in a common WinXP, I must say that I'm quite impressed with this motherboard - it has one of the Mhz/performance ratio that I ever saw

I may run my favorite game (3Dmark2001) later on this setup :D

Not too shabby at all, definitely one of the lower CPU clocks out there for sub-10s, cg's on breaking the barrier. :)

If you ever decide to get into it, you'll certainly find that proper SuperPi tweaking is just as intricate as doing so for 3DMark2001. ;)

4:5 indeed looks very very strong. Is 508x10 5:6 possible? Did you have the Voltage Damper option on?

Thanks Gautam :)

Yes I did turn Voltage Damper option on..

Altought my favorite game is 3Dmark, I know that are a lot of fascinating tweaks for superpi (and the nice guys from team japan are the best on use superpi tweaks) of course other benchers (a very small minority fortunately) use doping and they are out of the Tour de France ;)

Not bad Pedro. The damper works great on P5K Deluxe, but not on the P5K. Time for some 01 action :D

very well done mate, this p5k board seems to be donig some nice pi figures,

what performance level were you running at during these runs?

It's a bit bad that a board that price can only go to 1.66v after the vdroop:(
let's hope the damper and some vdroops can work it out

@brunormt:The first and only portuguese at the moment to ever have a mod place and I think also the one and only to have a place at XS staff;)

Arigato (obrigado) NewBeetle-san :D

This is nothing compared to your amazing results :)

Did you try the P5k Premium?

If I remember you didnt have much with P5k Dlx even afer moding the VCore/Vdrop - maybe the Premium is diferent since it have new components in PWM..

Arigato (obrigado) for your good information, Pedro Rocha-san. :D
kyosen-san tested this board in Japan, and he said it seemed to be better than P5K-Dlx and P5K-E.

However, I am crazy about P5K now. :p:
Trying P5K Premium seems to become it a little more previously. ;)

You have just earned the best Lowclock PI bencher of the year:clap:  ;) :toast:

>Gautam-san,
Actually, he taught me how to run 3Dmark2001-- had no chance to chat about any PI tweaks, unfortunately:D

Can't you do the pencilmod on this mobo ?
It gained me about 200mhz without doing a hardmod.

Nice, like all said, didn't know you did that benchmark :)
