Hi 2 all! I've been consulting these excellent forums for a while and now I decided to join. This is my 1st post so show mercy...

After studying a LOT of mobo insulation guides for peltier operation I figured out most of the things I have to do, hoping to save my mobo from disaster. There is one thing though I'm not sure how to handle, and this is the 8 power distributors (R47) around the CPU socket.

The reasons why I'm uncertain how to handle these parts are:

1) Before the upgrading I'm perfoming now the voltage regulators were cooled by the stock heatpipe/fan and the power distributors were reaching
50C, so what will happen when they are closed by neoprene?

2) Due to their high temperatures (might improve a bit since I'm watercooling the voltage regulators) they must be a hot spot for condensation if left uninsulated...

That's all for now and thanks for reading.

welcome to the forum acePROD!!!!

I for one wouldn't recomend running the board till you make some kind of heatsink to fit on them. I have a board just like that and it does get really super hot over there. I used some old p90 heatsinks and cut them to fit on.

Thanks a lot littleowl!

Copper passive heatsink will be ready tommorow!!!

I've been running this mobo for a year and a half and I've been taking temps with a lazer thermometer to spot high heat points. CPU, 2 GPUs and 3 HDDs were watercooled, and now I'm also watercooling both chipsets and voltage regulators so I hope the situation will improve.

When I said 50C I meant with my cpu (X2 4800+) @2.9Ghz & vcore 1.6V so I thing stock must be lower.

What about insulation though?

as for the insulation you really shouldn't need to go over that far. but if you do then make sure your heatsinks are up above it so they can get enough air to keep off of that cool. IMO

Thanks a lot littleowl. When I'm done with my setup, I'm going to run the pelt with the PC off and see if condensation reaches the R47s. If it does be sure I'll be bugging you with more posts...

if you have a question just ask we aer happy to help and if I don't reply just pm me I am always happy to help if I can. But that doesn't always mean I am right! :D

You get it running good then you should really test your work and run wcg for a while!!! :p:
