View Full Version : DFI LP P35 Highest FSB WR of DDR2 Single channel and Dual Channel by Andre and Oskar

AndreYang
07-21-2007, 09:10 AM
Oskar and I have some tests in the DFI lab before this mobo is available next week.
First, we need to make sure this mobo should be done highest fsb and we remove Digital-PWM and southbridge heatsink, change north bridge heat sink.
CPU cooling is cascade.

Single Channel DDR2 WR FSB 672.5

Very nice Andre! :)

The FSB is outstanding, but I don't think it is a single channel WR.
The record right now is 789MHz if I am not mistaken.

The 672FSB is very nice nonetheless :)

Edit: I understood the old title the wrong way. I was thinking Andre was talking about DDR2 single channel WR, but he was not. It's completely fine what you wrote Andre. FSB WR using single and dual channel :)

I think I read something that Oskar's goal is 600MHz FSB out of the box. But I don't think we will be seeing that FSB on a daily basis. CPUs are also a limiting factor at that speed :)

I have a great E6300 which does 625 without a problem, but I prolly was fsb limited. I really hope the new DFI will help me to hit even higher speeds :)

Yes you are. The WR is about the highest FSB ever achieved. Booth with single channel and dual channel memory. Dual channel stressed the NB more, so single channel clocks the board higher.

This is no memory WR. The guys with memory WRs were running the 1:2 memory divider mostly, so their FSB was only half of the memory speed.

Well, you also run without Digital PWM hatsinks. Is that ok and simple cold to work without jeatsinks?

Also, in the last pic, Heatsink is going out of the case, but I cant see it that long in other pictures. How come is that it goes outside?

It seems that board has 8 SATAs in the front but the panel from behind is really simple.

Thanks André.

sorta yes, sorta no.

They are showing what the board is capable of.

G0 E6850 ES have FSB wall problems.

While it is fun chasing FSB records with the right B1/B2/E0 chip... people are always so quick to blame the board for a FSB problem that is related to the CPU.

I still recommend waiting a few weeks longer for X38.

Oskar-Wu a top DFI engineer by pushing the P35-T2R managed to reach the incredible number of 660MHz FSB thus
scoring an impressive 12.719s in SuperPi 1M. A while later AndreYang managed to push the board even more and reached an even greater FSB speed namely 672.5MHz. The DFI P35-T2R specs indicate that it can easily reach above 600MHz FSB even with stock cooling.

Even if retail ones would do "only" 550 - 600 FSB which I think is more what to expect then they would still be very awesome boards.

EDIT: This board has actually made me reconsider delaying my upgrade until next week if it really comes out then and I'm talking in europe too? Will it like only be in very limited quantity at few retailers or will it be widely available next week? I was intending to buy from some Germany online shops.

Well, its not released yet. the 1st several weeks when supply is tight its always alot more, and this is still pre-release. Once the sales channels are full I am sure it will be between 200 and 250 USD, dropping over the next several month as all others do.

Honestly, I liked my Nforce 4 based LanParty UT so much more than any other mobo I ever had that I would be willing to pay any reasonable rate for this mobo. DFI rocks! Everything I want, and nothing I dont (except the gawdy colors, but at least green is less gawdy than orange) ;)
