sandman : Chipped ? - Yes, and I was super careful.

Must admit I did go through a few emotions :upset:

But in the end I went the other way and switched to Intel(Luverly IHS), I kept my faith with the Vapochill wich has been justified.

I could tell you a long story but to cut it short I bought ALL the best Intel stuff for the Vapo only to find the P4C800 bleeding edge board I had purchased didnt work with the Vapo(Received the P4C800 on day of release). I think I was the First Canterwood owner to test it with the Vapo(There is a huge thread on the Asetek forum about it). Had to Ebay it and get an IC7-G. Also had to switch my Antec TP 550 to an Enermax 550 (36A). Yes Loads of money wasted.

On the bright side I am amazingly knowledgable about all things Vapo related. And also regard myself as a Canterwood/P4 Guru.

Just think, I could be stuck with a Barton 2800+, lamely attempting to get anywhere near the front pages of the ORB. I would be sitting here jealous of the amazing performance all these P4/800 guys were getting.

Now I am one of them, and feel very satisfied with everything I have setup (See sig.). I also have a great launch pad for the next round of CPU's.

Everyone at work (Im a Senior Support Analyst) thinks im mad but when it comes to any upgrades AMD or Intel they all come to me :)

All this experience helps with my job aswell.

Always look on the bright side of life (And never look at your bank balance ;))

You learn by making mistakes,

Not rich, just managed to have quite a bit left over from a home improvement loan after makisng some cool deals on Cental Heating and DG. Im near the end of my free £'s though, hence im reluctant to do any vmods on my 9800. I really cant afford to bust this.

Also have a 2.4/800 arriving Monday. Just wanted to see how they do. If its crap I can Ebay it with warranty with only a £20 loss. Worth the risk if you ask me.

Brett

PS. Sorry about the long post. You guys are great.

heh Brett I've followed some of your posts over at the vapo forums as well about the ic7-g and what not....you're a very patient person man... I dunno after I busted up that many cpus I think the vapo would be headed out the window!

Glad it worked out for you though..breaking 24k and everything..congrats

Thank you isp. I had to have patience to stop myself going mad. I used the "Walk out of the computer room for a few days" method. Helped me lots.

I have 2 other crappy PC's on my LAN here though so I could always browse the WEB etc.. wich was the most helpful thing. Being cut off from the info and world would have pushed me over the edge, and the Vapo out of the window:upset:

But as you can see Im happy with it all now. And loads more experience gained through the whole ordeal. I would never recommend a Vapochill to an AMD user. Not until AMD sort out their exposed fragile cores. But to a P4 overclocker its a must. And equal to the Prom in my eyes.

Ill have the 404a upgrade very very soon, so should have some nice shiny new scores for you all.

This overclocking lark is like smoking, you just cant stop.

Brett

PS. Shamless advert : the Logitech MX500 is the best mouse ever. Mine arrived today and it is awsome. Had an M$ intelli Optical before.
