View Full Version : Another "Which Lian Li" Thread

I'm in the need of a mid-tower and have yet to build a system with a Lian Li. As everyone knows, Lian Li cases are regarded one of the best in the business due to their quality and design. In the past, I was not a big fan of what I saw (hence, why i have yet to build a system with one). I noticed that many of their cases did not have a tool-less design and still used 80mm fans. However, I have noticed that some of their cases have received revisions and have started to go away from the 80mm fans (This has probably changed some time ago, but only now noticed it). There are two particular case models that I like:

PC K60B
http://www.lian-li.com/product/product06.php?pr_index=10&cl_index=1&sc_index=1&ss_index=4&t ype=a

PC G7B
http://www.lian-li.com/product/product06.php?pr_index=11&cl_index=1&sc_index=1&ss_index=4&t ype=b

Unfortunately, I've had a difficult time finding these for sale anywhere. Does anyone have any experiences with these or similar Lian-Li cases? Does anyone have a reccomendation where I can find them for sale?

Another case I am considering (non-Lian Li) is the Gigabyte Poseidon http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811233006 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811233006)

I welcome Comments, Suggestions, Reccommendations, etc.

Thanks,

JD

Newegg link is broken

lian-li are very good cases. I have a pc-65, still has 80mm fans but I have added a spot for a 120mm right through the acrylic window. Had that case for about 2 years and just started using a different case. Really think I should have stuck to my pc-65 but I am not gonna tear my new compy all apart now.

Here are some pics.

the lian-li accessories are very sweet too... I love the drive bezels they have for their cases, gives them a very clean look. Removable psu panels are great too. 4 thumb screws and your psu is out. I like the pc k60b you have there, especially the black anodized. As far as purchasing, I'm not sure I got mine off of eBay a couple years back.

I would go with the PC-G7B because it doesnt look like the PC-K60 has a rear exhaust at all much less 80mm.

Did you check performance-pcs.com for some those cases? They have a huge selection of Lian-Li cases there.

Whats your budget, and must you have a midtower case? G-70B for 180 is my personal preference. It is a monster of a case though.

look at this thread-one of the most amazing lian li cases I've seen. This case defines clean.
Makes me want to buy one. . . (and I'm starting my own mod on a v1000II+ lol)

Budget isn't really an issue, but I like to think of myself as a smart buyer. I'm not going to buy solely on name alone. I want a quality mid-tower that provides decent cooling. I would prefer not to have any doors, I like tool-less design (not as important, but a plus), 120MM fans or bigger (I realize I probably won't see bigger in a mid-tower), and not a big fan of windows or pimp'n out my PC (I like performance, not bling).

This is the case I use the Lian Li A16, the temperatures stay cool and there is
plenty of room in it.

Is there a way (non-modding preferably) to add an additional front intake fan on the A16?

I know it's not one of the cases you mentioned, but have you considered the v1000b/v2000b (mid/full, same case)? They're pricey, but definitely on my top picks for a case

Yes, you can fit the three slot accessory from their 343 case in place of the three 5 1/4 drive slots. It has a 120 fan fitting and you can still mount drives.
Performance PCs sell them. I'm using two in my build.
It looks like the square area lower down on the A16 front.

Heavily modified PC7A Plus II...classic mod fodder. You can get a powdercoated one from Stu at KickBoxes...

I eliminated the HDD rack and external 3.5 rack and got rid of the fornt plates and used UV blue acrylic with a slot for the slot loaded DVD burner so you can see the HDD sinks and res and mounted a pair of switchs and three controllers for the fans where the 3.5 stuff would be.

This my second version of this LC PC7 and I like the case a lot..but I also put a fair amount into dampening the sounds including gromet-mounting the San Ace fans and lining the case in 4mm close cell foam.

Fits a pair of 2900XT NP.

I'm starting to lean towards the PC-7B Plus II (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112099) mainly due to price and looks. I plan on getting the side fan attachment to take advantage of the vent on the side panel. Only one thing concerns me about the case and its the hard drive bay. I currently have an Geforce 8800 GTS and I believe that card should fit just fine, but I have read that the GTX would be too big. Hopefully graphics cards won't get much bigger (if at all), but I don't like the idea of being limited due to size. I'm not sure if there is optional HDD bay I could install instead (non-modding). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

JD

I believe if you buy the PC-7B Plus II from Petra's you can get the windowed version with vents for the video card. CyberDruid has 2 2900HDs in there so it looks like there is plenty of room, maybe you can get him to respond.

The PC7b is quite a bit less deep than a V1000, I'd be concerned. For sure you couldn't have a drive in the front slot at the same height as an 8800.

:slobber: How ya liking that drive?? I've been looking to get one of those. . .do you mind me asking what you paid for it? Which Site? Last question, how'd ya cut the acrylic for the slot and button?

i fell in love with PC7SE/II & PC7SE/III & G7

Cheap - very lightweight - funtional. AND the PC7SE/II Special Edition comes with THREE 120mm CooltekFans instead of the usual TWO^^

sorry for the bump, I'm hoping cyberdruid sees the questions. Wasn't there a link of his worklog somewhere, or am I thinking of another LL case?

well, his sig is just pictures in the wc gallery here.
BUT, I checked his other case-link and found like 12 other worklogs on another site and one of them was the LL case. I'm going to check that out now.

My PC-60 Plus case
I havent really modded this case much, just a few fancy lights to make it look more aesthetic.
It has reasonable room to work with, and superior air cooling which is expected from a lian li product!
I love it :)

(sorry for the night pics and messy cables!)
