Are you able to push the fsb further?

Where did you get this chip from? Do you think it can go higher?

I have E6850, but the same batch 719A and it is GREAT Ocer!
But my other two 718A E6550 are very bad ...

yep, looking at most 719A batch E6x50 and they seems to be decent overclockers but volts are kinda through the roof as well. However this one isn't bad :)

I feel sorry for your other misfortunate 718A, I know cos I've being there for my other C2Ds in the past :)

my vid is 1.35
max fsb booting is 500fsb on this board. Well 505fsb will post vista, but lock iin about 2mins. Did this with a good oc'ing 6300 I have as well, so thinking it's the board at this point. I have cooling fans on the NB heatpipes as well, and changed out the thermal pad for paste so about all I can do. Plus :(. Now after returning all settings to my previous >1hr orthos stable settings, I have Orthos error after 1minute-just when ready to flip to 2nd iteration ugh. Tried boosting volts more and then it will reboot over time. I may just go ahead and clear bios and start setup of options again to see if this clears it up. It was just going so easy and well, that I doubt the cpu can't do 3.6-3.8ghz at 1.5-1.55v on aircooling. Then again, who knows.

I have no other P35 board now, hoping to get a few shortly. Well I do have a Biostar DDR3 board but that's basically out of commission until I get some better DDR3 as the Qmonda is mostly useless in that board :(.

wooooot awsome results

good way 2 show that u don't need a 6850 to get 3.5+

Really makes me wonder if I should make the change and attempt 4.0 on air.

By looking at your sig and compare it to my setup in my sig, I honestly don't think it's a worthy "upgrade" from what we've now to a new E6x50 CPU that may ended up getting very similar results or maybe worse but runs cooler that's all. It's still too early in the game to draw the conclusion becouse we're still short on the new E6x50 OC stats.

I want to be on the bright side and hope that 4ghz out of E6850 is totally attainable and safe for 24/7 with reasonable amount of volt.

Have you tested this cpu any further?

3.5ghz is about all it wants to do on the gigabyte board. Won't even post past that. On Asus P5b I can get it to post higher, but temps were runaway with stock cooler, and I didn't have a better cooler to try that was easily available. So I think it's the Gigabyte holding it back with fsb wall on that board. Funny thing is that the FSB wall is different for different cpus, ie 6320, 6550 and now 6850's I've tried. However, when I put those cpus in a vanilla Asus P5b, I can push higher fsb, but cooling is subpar, and I need to basically get some more boards to test with as the P5b is getting shipped to a friend of mine.

seriously not even with higher vcore.. you can always try what the lower multi can do..

I did not do any stress testing or oc to my max. Just something simple for now.... So the temps look accurate to you guys? Im using stock Intel cooler and my room is fairly cool (I use the term losely)
