F*cking impressive. And the best of G0 stepping is that it´s still 65nm, can´t wait for 45nm Wolfdales and Yorkfields.

maybe your testing if it can do 4GHz.. :)

hehehe but I think your not using the full potential of your memory module and the async capability of 680i motherboards.. :)

Congrats! 1st 4Ghz Orthos stable I've seen with no ape:banana::banana::banana::banana: voltages or superpi only stability. Now to make a decision on retiring my 6600 or not, lol.

well; im following your lead.

i decided to try 1.5v core.

and i seem to be very stable at 445x9
dr0ops down to 1.45 during orthos.

i checked my bios temp and it says 35C @ 1.5v (asus probe) 1.47v bios
tat says 22C and ctemp says 19C (lol) - all idle temps.

...and asus probe gives yet another reading (lolx2)
looking at probe at max temp orthos it is 45c (which could mean anything) but nuthing alarming tempwise.

using my probing finger:
the nb is slightly warm and the tuniq base is barely luke warm :hehe:
my ambient is 20C

orthos still running...i'll let it get to 20 minutes...or so.

if it was a summers day at about 28C i suppose i wood be seeing/feeling some heat from the tuniq.

How do you get 20C ambient in australia? I mean currently I have 27C room temp here. That's one reason I also think it might be wiser for me to choose one of these duals over quad cuz the quad temps will kill the chip during summer here as room temp is always between 25 - 28C during summer in this house, my neighbour on the other hand only has like 20C. :s

@adamsleath....You're from Brisbane? My mom is from Brisbane and Dad is from Aukland. Been thinking of moving to Australia past few years!

Back on topic.....I got the Q6600 over the E6850 and am hoping that the temps are good with this new G0 Stepping with the mosefts being so close on this board. we will see soon enough!

g'day brother; i got some cousins in otrahonga, NZ(i know that isnt how you spell it...)

thats nice but i must ask, would you use 1.5v 24/7 ??

If it's 1.5v @ BIOS set and 1.47v windows and 1.46v under load, I think it's still within the absolute safe 24/7 boundary. If it's 1.5v under load, that would be a bit too much for 24/7. However temp matters more as I think none of us will likely to keep the CPU long enough before the detereotion started to take a hit in performance after years..

i havent encountered any glitches yet.
playing my usual bf2142 and medieval2...
did 3d06 np

3.6GHz needs 1.4/1.35
3.8 i set at 1.47/1.42
and dats all folks.
im not pushing it further than 4gig, although im sure it would go higher with riddikilus v's.

thats nice but i must ask, would you use 1.5v 24/7 ??

I have been for a couple of weeks now and from what i understand if the temps are under control that shouldn't be an issue. Not too worried about it as i'll be replacing with a quad pretty soon.

I would like to see the voltage needed as well. The way i see it this isn't so impressive if it needs high volts. I don't consider my chip to be a beast by any means but... I'm 1.27ghz over stock with 1.5v. I think that's more impressive. But i guess everyone here is looking at actual 4+ghz clock speed chips.:)

Regarding 3dmark06
I wonder if you might have that GPU core clocked too high or possibly the memory giving you diminishing returns. Look at your sm3.0 score compared to this guy who is supposedly running his card at stock. Yours is lower which leads me to believe you would getting better performance if you lowered your card down some. Also he only scores a total of 400 points less than you.
See this thread. He's running 3.5ghz and GTX supposedly at stock :

Those are some awesome scores, probably one of the highest I have seen for a 24/7, single card setup. One question, that proc is 24/7 stable at 4GHz, but what is the highest you can run your 8800 Ultra @ for 24/7, on your WC setup?

MaK2000
07-20-2007, 10:36 PM
Is that card WC as well? If it isn't than I doubt it will run any extended period stable at that core clock. Have you ran a looping 3DM06 for any extended period of time(Couple hrs or so)? If it lasts you got the pick of the litter man. Would like to see if your setup can handle an 8 hr Orthos and an 8 hr 3DM06 bashing. Let us know how stable it is.

I doubt he can get that kind of score with a stock 8800GTX. Look at my score. I did mine at 3.8ghz and 8800GTX at 660/2100 + shader clock at 1675mhz and managed my score below. Unless he has a valid compare link actually showing his score then I would be believe him. Until then I say his score is impossible. Look at his SM 2.0 and SM 3.0 scores. They are much higher than mine with mine overclocked and his supposedly running at stock.

Maybe he's running SLI, I mean, mine did 14880 some with a Quad @ 3.9Ghz and my GTX @ 660/2100

Why not? I do.

With a bios setting of 1.525 volts I end up with about 1.48 volts when running Orthos on my P5B Deluxe. That voltage is within the Intel specs listed in their datasheet so no worries.

The videocard is watercooled as well with a EK 8800 block.
Yes i run it at this speed all day everyday with no problems.
As for ORTHOS i ran it 10hr stable then my daughter go`s on my pc and all hell breaks lose.

All i wanted to do was get it stable @ 4ghz im not really into benching as im more into playing game`s.
