I think it is. Heatsink used in this tests has it's own review thread (http://forum.coolaler.com/showthread.php?t=156417) and temps look lot more realistic, but still too low for usual ambient...
And first two SS are taken while system is idling, but Orthos screen has only +1C while fully loading the CPU
Its not a world debut around 20 people have G0 6600's all doing around the same clock, most are under Intels NDA though and some are just respecting the NDA out of courtesy.
I have a banned friend with one touching 4.2GHZ on water for benches and 3.9GHZ day to day with very little voltage increase.
Very nice CPU's

As you see it looses to unmoded Infinity on open stand by quite a big margin. Don't know how coolaler came up with these temps

Airconditioning his room haha
I have a G0 E6850 running 3.96GHZ air cooled with an OCZ vindicator 1.67V real and the CPU idles at 30 to 32C ambient air is 24, Load is around 58C.
Coolaler should have shown coretemp readings, Asus's apps always read a little off as on Striker AI was showing 28C which is 2 to 4C lower than the cores.
G0 runs so cool its unreal, you will see once retail hits.

It is because he uses a bolt through mounting kit instead of the stock push pin to mount the hsf.

So in your opinion, is Coretemp still reading correctly with the G0 chips? So far, the reported core temps have been rather unbelievable being even lower than ambient.

Well i also did some water tests and the overall temp of the water was a lot cooler with the G0 than the B2 X6800 i have at the same clocks and voltages.
I am sure these chips run real cool, how accurate coretemp is I am not sure.

Thx, same thoughts with finger on the heatsink confirmation, they definitely run a lot cooler.
Any thoughts from you how Intel manage to tweak this G0 stepping to make such a profound impact on the temps? Tech Report's G0 preview seems to suggest no drop in its power consumption.

Well, those Asus readings are out of whack.
Those temp's cannot be right.
Stupid Asus thing, for my P5N32-e SLi, reads like 28C Loaded, when im actually 42C Loaded. Lol.
Thinking, Asus PCProbe uses TJunction 85, not 100C ;).

i think intel screwed the temp sensors on G0 CPUs as MANY of them idle below ambient temp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And first two SS are taken while system is idling, but Orthos screen has only +1C while fully loading the CPU :confused:first two screens have massive overclocks and voltage while the prime screen is at stock with low voltage........it's possible but the temp sensors are still screwed unless his ambient was 5-10C

Yup. Doesn't seem possible. I would think the cooler wouldn't perform that well due to not having a completely flat surface(small gaps between the heatpipe+heatsink). The machining doesn't look to be done that well either. However it looks a LOT smaller and easier to work with then the monstrous scythe infinity that i am using now.

here is an example of a G0 CPU owner and experience with temps
these chips are so coool....literally
my idle coretemp @ 20c ambient is 12c @3.6GHz :hehe: @1.36v 6850.
dual orthos .05 droop 33c max under load @ 20 minutes dual orthos.
@3.4GHz 1.3v is dual orthos stable.
@ stock 3.33GHz this one is fine at 1.24v...havent tried lower volts yet.

well; the bios hardware monitor thingy says 27c at 20c ambient (ctemp says 15c)
so ctemp is probably reading about 10+c lower than
possible actual coretemp.
but i can say (like others) that the tuniq base is cool/cold to the touch even at load....so there:p:
i know people tend to exaggerate...but it is cold.
i dont think ill be running 4.0 ghz...but 3.8 is very easily rock stable at about 1.43v/1.39 droop.
i have no idea what the actual coretemp is
i think im more worried about nb temps cos the cpu is 'cold'
But , basically, if this is indicative of G0 step heat (or coolness)
then a kentsfield G0 looks like an 'easy' 3.4-3.6 on air on average.
i dont think there will be many retail chips running 4 gig q6600 g0 on air
but still; im going to be wishing i had a quaddie at some stage...

errr. The way i read that is his core temp is 20c and ambient is 12c. So that would actually make sense. Or is that the point you were trying to make?

coretemp is off with its reading of g0 temps i think.
ambient is 20; and my guess is that idle ctemp is about 30 ish. (bios temp reads 27c)
i believe bios temp usually reads 3-4c below what actual coretemp is.... but i could be wrong
ctemp is reading about 13c ...which seems impossible.
from this it looks to be about 10c under my old 6700.
whether a q6600 g0 will be/is 10c+ less than current q6600...who knows?
the only really reliable temperature measure i have at my disposal is my fingers on the heatsink
Brother Esau

I am certainly hoping temps are very good with the Q6600 G0 because I would be thrilled if I could run even 3.4ghz 24/7 with great temp ranges in the green!
P.S: Got my update from TANK GUYS this evening should be not far off for me...hoo hoo:cool:

well i bought a fluke 52 to try and measure temps at least close to what they should be so as soon as my CPU pops in i will stick a probe on the IHS to get a "close enough" value

From this post (http://forum.coolaler.com/showpost.php?p=1806550&postcount=11)(if you can read chinese), coolaler said it himself that u need to add about 25C to the ASUS Probe CPU temperature reading.
Translated here (http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.coolaler.com%2Fshow post.php%3Fp%3D1806550%26postcount%3D11&langpair=zh%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8)
roomtemp 31c, coolered by tower120,

Temp. is relative...As long as it can clocked like X6800 B1 on air (with double the cores) then its good:)

yup,im, im worry about , intel's new retail boxes, most of comuping g0 and old b2 retails((produced in 2007)e6320~e6600) have big trouble with FSB oc

i've noticed a trend with lower end chips with some FSB issues (E6750, E6550 namely)
i hope that Q6600 doesn't suffer that fate....it would be nice giving it dry ice and hoping for decent 4x00MHz clocks
scary to hear that from you as well :(

he should of just posted it here himself. if everyone stopped posting things like this we'd all be bored and go elsewhere. his last activity here was 06-18-2007 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/member.php?u=26735) so somebody else posting info here just helps him out. if he doesn't want to come here that's his choice.
First of all , the fact his not active here , it's due to some disagreement with some of the mods here , someting that I don't want to get into.
second, I have his permission to post it here.
also , About world debut , its marked with a question mark , as I didnt saw any other threads regarding this cpu, and since I know a lot of ppl waiting to see this stepping results, I asked coolaler's permission to post it here ...

i'm pretty sure you've been told about this already
he has been accused of cheating in both SuperPI and 3DMARK which he never refuted................and he stopped posting here himself........probably for the best so we should let him be

I didn't know your the first to tell me why he hasn't been here. if those in charge here think he's cheating then they should remove his posts. why should he refute any cheating accusations if he's not cheating. can you say for sure he's been cheating this whole time? XS can't just keep losing important members or else the quality will go down the tubes and this site won't mean anything anymore. you have to remember he didn't post this himself it's not his job to monitor this board that's why there's mods and admins here. We've already lost FCG and others. What if maxxracer, you, kunaak, AndreYang, eva2000, VictorWang, etc all stopped posting there wouldn't be much left. I know the board would go on but it wouldn't be the same.

Ummmm....why WOULDN'T you refute it? Seriously? If you do something like OC for records or competition or the like it should be repeatable and explainable. It can't be "top secret", otherwise why would anyone ever play by the rules at all? OCing is too easy to cheat at. When your results can't be explained and are far outside the norm, it is your responsibility to address any concerns that arise. Otherwise, don't try to claim achievement.
