Hi All

Been delaying this for over three months now and finally I can't resist the upgrade urge :(

What I do know is that I'm getting the following (although any comments will be appreciated):

MSI nVidia GeForce 8800ULTRA (T2D768E-HD-OC)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127288
Rosewill RX750-S-B 750W PSU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182067
Intel E6850 1333FSB

Other components like the DVD, case and monitor as sorted.
Now I need your help on the following:

Memory

Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB PC8500 (with LED's)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148070
OR
OCZ 2GB PC8500 SLi
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148070

See what andre XX has been doing with his OCZ SLi's (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=149912)

MotherBoard

ABIT IP35 Pro P35
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030
OR
GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128048

Looking for a platform that will overclock well and be somewhat future-proof as my next upgrade will probably only be in around a year.

Is there any P35 MB that will support SLi (nVidia)? My budget allows for 2xUltra's

looks good

maybe change the cpu for E6550 and clock to E6850 to save some cash but sounds like you dont need to save cash, so just stick with the E6850 or look into quad as price drops.

for the ram, out of the two is differcult but prob would go for the ocz.

mobo i would go for the abit but again both good boards.

as for graphics, stick with 1 ultra unless your running a ultra high res like 2560x1600 then it might be worth looking into 2 2900xt's, if not the ultra would do you fine.

whats your budget and other specs by the way.

Thanks Cyco,

Other specs are:
Liteon DVDRW
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106073
Samsung 226BW
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001096
2X Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
Old Antec case

Budget is around $1600 for graphics card, memory, board and PSU.
2XHD2900XT's might just be a better option and cheaper too :)

If It was My Rig And Had That Much To Spend I Would Go For Something Like This:

Cpu - E6*50

Mobo - ABIT IP35 Pro P35
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030

Ram - G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400C4
Do Not Sell On Newegg

Graphics - SAPPHIRE HD 2900XT 1GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102099

Psu - ENERMAX INFINITI EIN720AWT
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194021

2 2900XT takes it overbudget so maybe stick with one ultra and change the psu for a corsair hz 620 and
The mobo only supports crossFire setups in an x16/x4 configuration, if you want to run crossfire at x8/x8 you have to have a 975X chipset board.

So Maybe Go For Something Like This:

Cpu - E6*50

Mobo - ABIT IP35 Pro P35
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030

Ram - G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400C4
Do Not Sell On Newegg

Graphics Card - MSI NX8800Ultra
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127288

Psu - CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002

Thanks again

Ooooh, 2GB of video memory sounds insane...but oh so nice.
This (http://hardware.gotfrag.com/portal/story/38332/?spage=1) review says some interesting things for the new HD2900XT 1GB :)

Okay, this is my new system then:
Abit IP35 PRO
2x Sapphire HD2900XT 1GB
Intel E6850
2GB OCZ SLi PC8500

Still not sold on the Enermax...like the 4x12V rails on the Rosewell. Is 750W going to be enough for the 2 2900XT monsters?

Did a google on Rosewill...rubbish.
Silverstone any good? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817256016)

Not against Enermax, just want to know what my options are :)

P.S. Ask again, is the 750W going to be enough?
