I have a gauge on my pc case saying the temperature, there is a wire coming from the back with a "thermometer" or sensor on the end? where do i put this? thanks:confused:

Anywhere you'd like.
There's several points where knowing the temp can be useful.
How long is it?

it can reach my cpu unit, other than that not far. can reach video card. hard drive, dvd drive, not psu though. i dont know how to use it though. there isnt a "plug" so to speak its like a small pad. :S :S :confused: :confused:

It'd normal just be taped in place and you'd take a reading for the airflow temp in the area of interest.
The items you listed mainly have alternative temp readings in your software.
Really it's a bit of a gimmick, but you could use it to check for hot areas your airflow is missing, then adjust your fans to suit.

so all i need to do is perhaps selotape or blue tack or superglue onto the appropriate area, then when i power-up the gauge on the front just works? sorry im a bit of a noob

Yes, that's all you need to do. A tiny bit of superglue would do the job, but I'd think electrical tape would, too. Just avoid gluing anything to your motherboard. :p:
