Just wanted to make sure you all know that [cTx] has a STALKER box on a dedicated server along with our BF2 SF server. If you haven't tried stalker online you are missing a lot of fun. come join us. Just look for cTx Chicago in the network list :up: Hop on Ventrilo and talk to us while you play if you want also.

Oh trust me you aren't missing anything, the game is so poorly supported it's a joke. Single player is just fine, but the lag and constant skipping in multiplayer is just plain retarded, funny thing is GSC just announced they will be releasing a pre-quel for stalker. STALKER CLEAR SKY rofl... go on their site, supposed to come out in Q1 2008. They haven't fixed the bugs in the first version, and they are already working on another one. No wonder it's taking almost more than 3 months to fix the MP issues, and they still haven't released a patch. Thank god i stopped playing that game.

STALKER MP had a really nice gameplay and probably a good future, but with that players skipping i don't see it going anywhere. It's like playing CS 1.6 with 500 ping.
Anyways the game is fun but the lag issues ...

Rly? As long as we kick ping'ers over 200 we (on our server anyways) don't get the lag. Did you play with the 1.003 patch? Also was you running with every thing maxed out? It plays so much smoother with the "pretty's" turned off. Just asking not selling. I think it is a great onlne game.

umm last time i played it was with the patch(1.0003) and there hasn't been a patch since then :s there is lag i dunno what u'r talkin about. Plus people with high ping don't affect anyone, they may skip but they don't make others skip, it's just technically impossible i thought you realized that already :/

The "lag" is not hardware or bandwidth associated. The net code for the game still needs quite a bit of work.

I haven't played on it yet :) I was just curious, since I am going to be building a server with some old parts I have laying around and just curious about your server's performance and also what software your running on it. The specs for my server is: (E6300, Intel motherboard (from Retail Edge bundle), 4gb DDR2, 2 - Raptor X's - Raid 0, and a 6600gt). Since I am going to be putting in the money for the ram (which i havent bought yet), and also using the Raptors on it (I was planning on using them for my new gaming machine, but i decided to go with 2 - Western Digital 7500AAKS's.), depending on performance, I might upgrade it with the new retail edge bundle cpu and mobo, once I get it this year (its going to be a Q6600, and some mobo with P35 chipset).

Well if you wanna run a stalker server your specs will be fine the major issue we had in the past was bandwidth usage... its is freaking outrageous, generally pulling 8-10.

I thought the Q6400 was supposed to be the deal this year? (MicroCenter employee)

iirc the Q6400 never made it out of ES stage. The price drop on the Q6600 is what all of us at WCG are waiting for.

WCG uses very little on anything but cpu/ram really. But if you get FIOS pm Movieman about running MJ12, He gets some awesome points on that running his FIOS line.
