Just wanted to introduce myself as a new cruncher!
I used to be an (albeit anonymous) member of the Rosetta team until people decided to move elsewhere. Now I've decided to get back into it and have started installing BOINC on a few PCs lazing around the office doing far too little whilst being left turned on far too much!
So far I've got it installed on an Athlon 64 3200+, a Xeon 3040, a Core 2 Duo 6300 and a Celeron 2.5Ghz. Over the next few weeks I'll see what else I can sneak it onto.... :D

Fortunately, I've just had to order some spare PCs for work, as we always try to keep three spare of everything ready to go.... managed to get some cheap Core 2 Duo HPs (we tend to buy mostly HP), which will shortly be getting an extended setup including BOINC.. he he!

If you manage multiple PC's with BOINC, check out BoincView! It's fantastic.

Thanks for joining in with us. Something you can do with a PC or 100 and help try and stop these diseases.

Could someone briefly explain BoincView? I'm assuming it's some type of tool to manage multiple PCs running Boinc. I followed down the page of additions to the new versions but I couldn't find anything that summarized the app.
And welcome to the team!

Just like you said it's a program that lets you remotely monitor and control PC's on your network running BOINC. It shows jobs in progress, pending jobs, etc and lets you have full control of BOINC just as if you were sitting at the remote PC. Most people use it to make sure all their PC's are still crunching and working properly.
It's easy to setup, just drop 2 files into the BOINC directory of each remote PC as described in the setup procedure, one contains a password, the other contains the name or IP of the computer running BOINCview. Then add each remote PC into BOINCview entering the appropriate information and you're good to go. If your worried about excessive network traffic, raise the "Interval for data updates" to 300-600 seconds.
