I finished setting up my water cooling and it's 90% filled with liquid, I need to run the pump now to get the bubbles out and leak test it. I am using my antec 430watt power supply to just run the pump. After connecting the green to a black to ground it and turning it on it ran the pump for 1-2 seconds the very first time and cut off. I waited a bit and tried again and it cuts off faster and the pump doesn't have time to power up.

Should I use my corsair PSU to do this?(I know low loads aren't the best for a PSU) I also read that connecting the grey to black makes lower loads ok for the PSU, is that true?

anyway what can I do to get that pump running???

thanks

some PSUs require a specific load for them to turn on... thats all I know.

btw I tried adding 4 fans to the pump and it's just not enough I guess...I just don't wanna have to run the whole computer before leak testing! I know I used this PSU to run the pump 3 years ago to leak test.

should I try another PSU? Is this putting the PSU in danger though?

i doubt putting a low load on a PSU will damage it. it will definitely not run at full efficiency, but it should output a stable current and voltage.

well it's not staying on for over half a second ><

what can I plug into it, hard drives? or is that a bad idea for w/e reason?

problem solved, I forgot about my really old computer, I'm just turning that on with the side off and a molex hooked to the pump.

the liquid became very foamy fast...should get most of the bubbles out in an hour.

I put 7/16 tubing on 1/2 barbs so hopefully there will be no leaks at all...I'm just worried about the radiator, I used teflon tape though. Didn't know the 5/8 or w/e tube clamps wouldn't fit! O well.

sounds good man! i guess 4 fans just wasnt enough.

as for the water cooling questions, direct them to the water cooling section, i really don't have much experience ;P.
