I reciently purchased a 2x1GB kit of 6400 Crucial Ballistix from Newegg for next to nothing. Since they were getting awesome reviews (8500's). I noticed that they were default programmed for 8000 speeds 500 5-5-5-15-24. Is this common or did I get lucky?
On a side note these sticks are  awesome.
637 5-5-5-15 @ 2.5V on my unmodded EVGA 680i, with no effort at all.
425 3-4-3-12 @ 2.4V I was able to boot windows but when I tried to run SPi I crashed and I didn't try to up the volts.....it was getting late.
500 4-4-4-12 @ 2.4v
I will post screen shots later.

Seems to be normal these days...programmed for PC2-8000 and hitting 600.
In my opinion, not too shabby for "value priced" ram.

Not bad...I just got 2 of them also...with the rebate that's $140 for 4x1gb of insane memory :D
Now that the rebate is gone, the price has also gone up...now you will pay a little over $250...just can't wait until the E6750 is available so I can try them out.

how normal is that d9gct is between the d9gmh chips?

I don't know how normal it is, but keep in mind that those are Micron produced chips which the retail arm, Crucial then further bins. Both of the chips pictured in you link have been binned and labeled by Crucial as 25ns (500MHz) chips, a speed at which neither chip was rated by Micron.
In the end, with Micron chips, it doesn't seem to be as important which rating Micron gave them as it is how well they were binned by the module manufacturer, whether it be Crucial, OCZ, GSkill or Mushkin. If the chip runs DDR1100 or higher, does it really matter is the label says D9GCT or D9GMH or D9GKX?
