I`ll not travel with this package on pallet and check it all the time.

It doesn`t matter by who I`ll send it, UPS, NASA, tooth witch or somoeone in pink car. Everyone can f$$k that package, even if I`ll made titanium box for it.

I would send monster with good packaging by cheaper firm, but I`ll insurance it for big money. If something will be f%$%ed, this firm will have trouble, not me.

if you ship on pallet it will be pretty easy to pack, boxes is a pita if it's heavy stuff.

if you ship on pallet, put foam ~50mm between the pallet and unit to reduce the forces when putting it down from forlift truck to trucks/floor. Use palletcollars and a lid for it, and just fill it up woth foam cubes.

no big deal honestly, if you do it this way it won't be any problems unless it slop of the truck, and thats nothing you could do anything about and will be covered by guarantee.

And it wouldn't sit evenly because it leans to the heaviest side.

I hate to say it, but just pack it as best you can and hope for the best...

If it came from China to US without issue on something more fragile through ship, I can't imagine why it would be harder to ship cascade once properly packed. Spend extra $50 or so to get it right and that's a lot better insurance than chasing after insurance company later.

Magoa`s auto-c is leakfree and I solved problem with not starting compressor when static pressure was over 10 bars. Insulation needed

Masell`s sli cooler is done, insulation needed.

For symphy`s 3 stager I almost finished panel with manometers, for each stage :)

I redid some insulation and changed electrical wirings in Vic`s monster. Now monster looks better and it`s really safe.

Everything seems to be finished, loadtest and shipping !

I`m on right track :)

When I sent it back for regas.....it broke and box+cascade split in the middle:(

If yes, this is absolutely proper packaging and breaking it is absolutely fault of the shipping company,

if no, no wonder, why it broke.

About loadtests, only I could test it on friends P4, it`s idling at -104*C, -103*C, with Sp2004 (2 applications), for 2 hours it`s holding flat -101C. 5,5Ghz 1,65V.

I wish I could have some more etylene to regass the ST2 and change evap...

As for tempers running wild here... may I remind you few things guys?
Let's start off with Luke.
1) Luke: you have obligation to follow and just follow it. I know it can be stressful but just follow it and ignore things that doesn't DIRECTLY involve you performing your duty. As I have suggested, some pictures once you get the load done, packed, etc will stop all this nagging.
2) Ryba: Do Luke owe you anything? Money? some build? If not, I DO suggest you stay out of this. I REALLY suggest you do stay out of this if you don't (did I make myself clear enough here?)
3) Masell: I think you have mixed bag of feeling at this point. I would think it would be better since luke has shipped the unit out to you, my suggestion would be to wait till you get it and THAN add your comments afterwards. It seems like luke doesn't have tracking number so, LUKE... scan/take picture of receipt for him and post up or e-mail him please on this.
4) Victor: I believe I understand your situtaion and frustration level. I can't even begin to imagine what you have gone through recently with few bad deals that happened. My sincerest apology that this has happened to you. Now, you have been very polite and patient. Let's hold the patient just a little longer so Luke can do proper load test, proper packing, proper insurance for shipping the unit out while taking picture and giving you proper copy of receipt or tracking number. Last thing I would like to see is cascade built or tuned in hurry and customer receiving it getting disappointed considering involved money in unit and shipping. As if it isn't working by the time you get it, it's pretty much worthless as other builders are NOT likely to take the project over... So, let's not try to put luke on too much of Edge :)

Now back to you Luke, as I have mentioned in MSN, please get load tested ASAP (I know you didn't receive copper block yet but should be any day now) take some good pictures of load testing, pack Victor's unit well packed (pictures there too), and ship it the safetest way possible so Victor's anxienty can be diluted. It works better for both you and Victor.

Overtly being friendly isn't going to help the situation either unfortunately. So why don't we wait till you receive the unit, and if it is to your liking, why don't you post up than ? :) This will help more with Luke's situation more than what you can post now.
I am sure once matter is settled and Luke has some extra money in hand (could be a while), he will repay you some how. (Okay, I believe people in general understand meaning of obligation, debt, etc)

20.11.2007y -- packing and shipping, in the worst cause, shipping on 21.11.2007y by UPS.

Cruise SS cooler:

19.11.2007y -- built, waiting for loadtes. Load test on wednesday.

Magoa`s autocascade:

19.11.2007y -- built, waiting for loadtests. Load test on wednesday, with Cruise SS.

Symphy`s 3 stager:

19.11.2007y -- recompleting and rebuilding, new design. New compressors planned (on beggining of december).
Planned finishing project -- Just after New Year. Wanna see it on CeBIT

Okay guys, let finish everything.

I writed planned dedlines, I`ll take care of everything and will post progress everyday what is happening with each unit. Hope now all problems will be solved.

Thanks guys. Luke, Symphy's 3 stager, let's get it a little more detail on projected time line. Compressor receiving date would be good date to start, what part of construction what day (maybe by stages), leak test starts when ends when, etc. Bit hard to project too far in future but you will have general idea of where each should be at since it won't be your first build.

Victor, when you are using, for example IrfanView, when you`re moddifing photos, resizing, it`s adding actual date. I`ve got those photos from, If I remember correctly, 2nd of november ? But resized them, sharpened with options in Irfan View and added at 12th.

I haven`t forgotten about one mini-ac, but we will solve that after getting cascade by you. okay ?

Maybe not exact load tests, but some news, I`ll do loadtest at the night.

I found BIG restriction in small part of captube at ST2. It wasn`t blocked, there was flow but...almost like nothing ! Thanks god that I found that, repaired, vacuuming.

I wanna give it 3-4h of vacuum and then I`ll start testing, so I`ll post pictures later or tomorrow morning. However, loadtest will take 2-3 hours I think.

So now will go to martha, I have to eat something and take small rest. will take digicam and make photorelation of loadtest. wish me luck

I would delay posting photos few hours, not few days because of that restriction. Is that bad ?

Believe me or not, my street haven`t got power from 23:30 to about 2am :|REALLY ! :| :| :| It`s normal with my luck. Now I`m going to cellar test it (it`s ready I think about almost all night vacuum) and post photos in 1-2h and start packing.

In a way i can emphasize Luke as working with technics is often solving these different unexpected problems. With schedule in the point where customer wants to get refund it must be stressful when things dont go as planned.

Still... i dont think customer cares to hear about these problems as you are long late from the schedhule already. In this point he wants to see load temps and cascade well packed and ready to go. Whatever problems there comes (like this restriction in captube and so on) you should just keep it in your own knoweledge and focus on getting those dummy load pics.

Personally i think Luke should make exact deadline when he has made those load pics and cascade is sent well packed to Victor and if he crosses deadline then he should refund 100e/week (or something) to Victor from delay. This is quite usual method when contracts are made.

Just my thoughts. No reson to get pissed off.

Before anyone comes in and tell me this is a custumer/builder thread, I did buy a ss from Luke, it arrived working though I never got around to actually using it, untill months later I found out it didn't hold a load anymore. Thing is in the end off the build we switched from cpev to captube, and with my permission he didn't wound the captube nicely around the suction line since he was late with my built as well and I wanted my unit. I to paid upfront, though much less then you I'm sure, I even paid him upfront twice since it was my first international bank transfer and when I seen it not being deducted from my account I went back and did it again just to find the next morning the batch had been processed.

He send me back the money, he send me unit the way I told him to do it. Only thing I don't have is the cpev he promised to send along with it since I paid for that part specificly and wanted it shipped so I might use it myself later on.

I'm not going to put my reputation on the line for Luke since I don't know him that well, but I will say he's been fair with me, and from what I know he's being upfront about the issues he has with builds and problems around him. Not that their is an excuse for not keeping promises, just saying this last few hours, come on, don't explode! Give him his few hours, like I said before, that ship or plane doesn't leave any sooner anyway.

Not that it is of my concern, but: Did you mount the palette under the package for it being able to be lifted with a forklift? I would recommend this or UPS will throw it around like a football. Perhaps you could also place some "Fragile" or "This side up" or "Careful, Glass!" stickers on it?

Please dont get me wrong, I dont want to involve in your business, but I have some experience with shipping things and this is only ment as a suggestion.

The sides should be solid or there is a big possibility that something (fork) will get poked through the plastic wrap. I sent a cascade UPS and one side got poked out by fork lift. Although I think the plastic is a good idea to hold it together because the particle board will not hold a screw at all. I can guarentee the screws in the particle board will get broken out.

Why not just use regular pallet collar? that will protect the package from any damage from forklift since those are ~20mm thick wood, require quite big force to penetrate. The shipping company should give those for your package. Swedish companys offer both pallet and collars for big packages (40kg+), both for the customers safety and their own (damaged packages cost alot for shipping company).

As long as the compressor is grounded, there is no reason why electricity should jump out to evap. One thing to check for sure is if your outlet has no faulty ground line which does happen. Especially in apartment settings where your neighbor could be short circuiting something at wrong time on ground line :P

Was the unit holding temperature when you were benching? If it was, I don't see why the cooler is to blame.

You chipped it somehow, face up to it. Maybe you didnt even realize, maybe it wasnt even the evap setup, maybe you tried removing the evap cold and pulled at the core. Who knows, but thats not ac damage at all.

Hey, have you got problems with reading?

In same moment sparks in unit (propably from capacitor), sparks onto card, stink. I removed evap when evap was enought hot (see water in pics?), core have HOLE, there is no broken at all. Also all setup are worked before and card was ok. My friends had same problem some couple months ago, he burned his AXP cpu in same way because of electical problem with compressor.

Try to do short-circuit @compressor and measure voltage at evap. Huh supriced?

I'm not benching with subzero for few months, but "little" longer, and I know when it's my or hardware fault.

Masell, when you say conducting... if you have noticed, the core doesn't really conduct electricity...
If it is electrical failure than chaces are, it must have gotten through one of those SMDs. And I am wondering how voltage would have fed through SMD without conductive surface actually touching it?
Uneven mounting could have caused copper to contact smd's bare soldered joint in situation I see from pictures... if such was case.... I don't think I can blame it for cooler. Also, was there any condensation at all around GPU card?
GPU is notoriously hard to insulate properly since wattage generated from core isn't much at all to be honest. Sometimes, unseen condensation happens in PCI-express slot since slot is very close to core.
There is a reason why I don't like making dual evap gpu cooler and this is one of reasons. Not easy to mount properly, and larger chance of condensation problem since space is rather tight and not much heatload is generated from core.

Sorry to post again in this thread as I am not related to your business, but instead of heating the discussion around the graphics card, why dont you try to find out what heated the gpu?

I would suggest the following:

1. Get a Volt/Ohm-meter

2. Plug the unit out of the wall!

3. Shorten the capacitor with an insulated screwdriver.

4. Measure resistance between Evap and Ground on electrical plug. Should be Zero. If it is not, the wiring is faulty.

5. Measure Resistance between the two AC plugs and Ground. Should be infinite or, if any small capacitors from e.g. filter are installed somewhere, should rise slowly to infinity. If not, wiring should be faulty.

6. Now check the wall plug in your home: Measure Resistance between Ground pin and e.g. some plumbing (water line, etc.). Should be Zero, if not, home wiring is faulty.

And what I also can think of: Unit and Power supply were not connected to the same AC circuit with the same ground. So a difference in the electrical potential could easily cause a current flowing from the (on one side perfectly earthed) evap to the (on the other side also perfectly earthed) GPU.

I would recommend to test these things before accusing each other of being the executioner of this little poor graphics card. Also I would recommend getting these measurements before plugging in the unit again or plugging something else into faulty wall outlets. If something like this would happen to me, my first concern would be "What the heck did go wrong and what do I have to do not to get fried accidentally".

Just my 2 cents, and please forgive me for posting here (I really dont want to involve myself in your business things), but I think somebody could get hurt if you dont check out what went wrong.

Remember, that when unit is normally ON, there were no problem. When Masell applied big load (Nature Test) then problem showed up.

CruiseSS - -44C-45C (6800btu).
Magoa Mini auto-c - -64-63C (~ 15000btu). Finally I have found good gas ratio and cap lengh xD

Spedition company haven`t pick up the package today, the closest term when they can pick it up is tuesday. They told me that they will be able probably pick it up on the finish of tghis week or at the beggining of next. I supposed that the closest term will be actually, but unfortunately not.

But on tuesday Victor monster will finally leave my home.

turn the cooler on, not attached to anything.
Take a multi-meter and touch a lead on the evap face and the copper tubbing.
If it reads 0v then you have no issues, if it reads <220V you have a faulty compressor, or system wired incorrectly :D

Luke i have spoken with runmc, and i think its fair to customers that all units be finished by Christmas, other wise you should be refunding ppl. In the mean time apply for a loan and get this issues sorted, units build with pictures of results using load testers and then we can get back to a happy forum and remove such threads as these from XS.

They will be finished before Christmas, I gonna finish everything before my birthday.

Symon, you will get an SS and refund probably, but I`ll have to try with auto-c one more time.

Kizmo cascade - I`m waiting for ethylene only. It depends on when I`ll got it. I`m in contact with Kizmo all the time and there is no problem. I will be stupid to give money back when only gas is missing and on it`s way.

Symphy`s 3 stager, done after NewYear, because there is no option for me to bring it to life earlier. I think it wouldn`t be problem too, it`s 3 stager and it have to rock on CeBIT 2008. I wanna finish that project.

So only two units will be not done in 100% before christmas, but two units which can wait a little more, to be done perfectly.

All others, Victor, Maoga and Cruise are done, one shipped in 99%, other will be shipped in couple of days.

So only two units left, shipped after New Year.

Sorry for not answering Vic yesterday. I think that that with that spedition company there is no way to track package. I`ve got contract with them, all documents etc. They called me today, but coming for package will cost me more than half of shipping costs !! So I decided to drive 150km to this company to give them package.

This is spedition company, not courier. They don`t have tracking number to track it by website.

UPS is not able to take such a big package from me to Victor, to China. As I`m sending it as person to person, not company to company. It`s just not possible, from what I talked with them.

I`ll catch Cruise and Magoa on msn or e-mail, to talk a bit. I don`t have enough money to send both packages by one time, I have to ask in job for two week salary...

I searched really hard, to find someone to ship such a big unit to China. Don`t wanna hear now someone, who will tell me that all couriers would do that. Bull$hit, China isn`t EU, sending to it something big is only possible by spedition companys. I really maked a lot of calls, believe me or not.

Unit will arrive to your home Victor, I choosen that option. Nothing unexpected will happen, package is insured, so if something will go wrong, you will have more money than you spend for everything. But more probably you will have everything in one piece.

Spedition company told me that shipping can take MAX 35day, but commonly it takes 3 weeks. It`s long, but really, no other way to send it faster.

Why dummy is reverse and heating mostly backplace, not evap? And how long did you tested it, frost is veeery small?

Never thinked that it makes any difference of using resistors in both ways. For me it doesn`t make difference however it`s not insulated at all. The copper plate get pretty damm hot in very short time so contact was okay. Heat from backplate is transfered by screws, can`t you see that ? ;)

About hour of testing ? The frost doesn`t have to be huggeee, it depends on lot of thing, for example ambient temperature and humidity. I made all tests in cellar. There was enough time to frost insulation above evap and "dummy".From what I remember, I tested unit with 155W dummy much more than 1 hour and dummy wasn`t very frosted at all, more than this, but nothing speciall. So don`t know what you`re trying to figure ?

I think you don't understand... but let's start from beggining. I talk to you about cheap unit as partial refund. You said that u will build nice sli unit for me, and even if I won't like it - I can sell it @XS and also earn some money on this deal. We talked about 2 weeks for build, but it took 4-5 weeks. One of the best part of that story is that I ordered SLI unit (SLI - two evaps for two graphic cards :D ), but I there is one gpu and one cpu evap:rolleyes: . All unit looked like... it doesn't look. I think now u want to say about insulation... I know that I told u I will make insulation by my own (I'm waiting 3rd month for insulation tape Luke, remember about it ;) ? ). i have to clear the situation to u now.

'coz u send the unit by "normal" sea shipping but not "postal shipping" and I haven't been to Poland before.
so I can't claim the unit is my personal luggage which is an easy and cheap way for custom clearence.

this means I have to go through "offical custom clearence procedure" .
BUT...as u can't provide "performa invoice and packing list and description of the unit" which are necessary for "official custom clearence", so there seems no way I can pick things out. :(

beside all the above.
if I can handle all those things w/o prob.
I have to pay:
1) 750rmb for THC (7.15rmb=1usd)
2) 520rmb for Handling Charge
3) 2640usd*(1.1*1.17-1) for import tax
4) 3rmb/day for storage (about 15days)
5) 500rmb for Import Agent

totally about = 1011usd.
time span = 2weeks.
all these complex works should be done in 7days,
or our Spring Festival will coming (10days holiday).

my suggestions:
1) u contact ur agent in poland and call back the unit.
2) u contact ur agent and forward the unit to HK (my forwarder's warehouse)
3) find all the paper's u have in hand about the shippment and find out the value u marked on it.
i'll try everything i can to see if I can take the things out if total spent < 500$ and this charges on u.
if cost me > 500$ , i'll give up.
