I got some WU's that haven't been able to upload. I'm also having trouble connecting to the site. Is it down for the rest of you as well?

Yes it is down. I was at the Daughter-in-laws and go to move from me to [cTx] and it will not let me put the name or anything :( Darn it now I will have to talk dumb shiz to her to get it set up if I can even get her to do it. What a pain.

:end of rant:

This appears to be a major crash similar to what occurred around Xmas time.

That is not good. I have only 3 working units left to work. sierra_bound, how long was it down last Christmas time?

I got three more WU's left, and that'll last me about 4 hours. :( Hopefully the outage won't be too long.

It was down a few days if I recall correctly. The servers are located in Colorado. They crashed right when that state was having a big snowstorm. Most of the roads were impassable, so no one could drive to and check out the servers. Hopefully they won't be down that long this time.

Ahh, I am hoping it would be up before tomorrow morning.

Me too. I did some double-checking. The servers were down for about three days last December. They went back online just before Xmas. During that time I remember the WCG forum was still functioning. This time, however, the entire site is down.

Looks like it's been down for 3 hours now according to my message logs. I started caching 3 days worth of work after the Christmas outage so no worries here. I'd recommend everyone cache atleast 1 days worth as a safety net for server outages. Even 3 days worth is no problem if your machine is on 24/7. It also helps shorten up your "pending validation" queue since the other 2 results are usually in by the time a WU makes it's way through your queue.

OK, it's back up. My next question is how to queue more work for the next time....?:D
My machines have to be fed.......

It's all good now! Although, I now have 4 errors :/

I started getting a lot more WU's by changing my preferences to Maximum Output in the device profiles. Seems to work really well for those that crunch 24/7.

Go to: MY GRID>>DEVICE MANAGER>>DEVICE PROFILES, select the BOINC profile you want to modify, and down near the bottom where it says "connect to network about every", change it to 1, 2 or 3 days. Then as your machine makes contact with the WCG server over the next several hours, it will start caching more work. There is a 10 WU/server contact limit so it may take a while to get your queue full.

Extended Outage - Over

We just experienced an extended outage that lasted from about 2:00 UTC until 8:00 UTC. This outage was caused by the failure of some networking equipment.

The outage impacted the website, forums, UD grid and BOINC grid.

Members do not need to take any action at this time. The grid clients will automatically connect to the servers and return completed work and fetch new work now that the outage is over.

We apologize for the troubles and we appreciate your on-going commitment to World Community Grid.
