View Full Version : Has Fudzzila true info about delaying of 45nm Intel CPUs?
But Intel can change its mind
We had a chance to spend some time with Intel latest roadmap and the current one doesn’t indicate that Intel plans to launch Yorkfield or any other desktop Quad core at 45 nanometre this year.
Intel is well known for changing its plans month by month so this can change, but according to the latest roadmap Intel plans to release the QX6850 Quad core at FSB 1333 and to stick with this 65 nanometre 3GHz processor till the end of the year.
There were two separate rumors that indicated that Intel might push a 3.33GHz 45 nm Quad core in 2007, but according to Intel’s roadmap this is not the case, at least not now.
Intel should be able to release at least some 45 nanometre processors for the desktop market, but the current plans for 45 nanometre is to introduce the Harpertown for servers first and then to launch the 45 nanometre Yorkfield for the desktop market. We wonder what the actual difference is between Harpertown and Yorkfield, as we believe that this can be different codenames for the same chip.
? Who has better info?

I Do.
I've got the latest roadmap running upto Q2 2008 but unfortunaltly like pinocchio in shrek 3;
"i can neither confirm or deny these rumour's"
I hate NDA :(

Intel will launch Yorkfield in december , with AMD running amok they are easing the pressure.

Today they say intel push the date, in 2 days they will say that intel pulls the date....
Don't waste your time reading them.

I love it how they leave a window open just in case with 'But Intel can change its mind' .

no IC difference, but the jumpers on the package and a different socket. Binning would also have slightly different priorities

Ye, like the big companies can just turn on a plate and change production over night. Gotta love fud fuad.

I know Intel has 2 fabs Penryn ready from this year(I mean H2 2007),one in Chandler,Arizona, other in Ronler Acres,Oregon...I guess Intel will be losing money if both fabs don't begin production this year...
Am I wrong?
Anyway,I don't trust those from fudzilla.
as far as I know thats normal, intel said that a long time ago, they will launch server first, in q4 and then desktop will follow in q1 2008

Not really. Fabs cost a lot of money to set up and for maximizing the profits it's best to keep them in production for as long as possible. Since there's no real pressure coming from AMD, Intel could just stick to the old fabs for as long as they want.

They have been under way for quite some time. There will be a third 45nm factory in 2008.

Yeah the Hillsboro fab was converted to 45nm. No idea if they're starting production yet.

To the other guy, Digitimes folks aren't known to post FUD. They simply post what Industry folks tell them. See AMD delay and Spin?

Thats where pretty much all the current penryn engineering samples are coming from. It's also the development site for 32nm

Hillsboro is like Intel's unofficial base.

most of the really early dev work (pathfinding) is in Santa Clara, CA, but yeah, as far as full volume development that's all D1D right now

Same this is what I've heard too...I don't know where people are getting desktop in Q4...
Looks to me with the possible Phenom postponement it will be Phenom vs Yorkfield in Q1 2008! :D
