Hi,
Anyone know if this is a G0 stepping chip? I have the option to buy one.

can u please report the systems specs and the vcore used ?

EDIT:
system specs in the screenshots :)

The vcore of the screenshots is 0,01v less in full.

Right now i am passing a quad prime at 3600mhz 1,44v (20min so far) :)

Well I missed the boat on that chip because I was unsure :(

Good news is there will be another option to buy one hopefully from the same batch within the next week.

Looks a nice chip. What temps are you getting at 3.6 mate? Idle & Load

Cordovader
07-02-2007, 01:33 PM
Looking at the asus probe 2 27c in idle and 50c in full but...2 things.

I am using right now ac in my room (at this time in my country the temps begin to be really hot) and the asus probe, as always, lies, put it about 10c more in idle and 10-15c more in full (with a Tuniq Tower 120).

I like to try with coretemp but everytime i click on it the system crashes and reset.

which version are u using ? 0.94 or 0.95

Cordovader
07-02-2007, 01:41 PM
0.95. Now i have tried with 0.94 and no problems, 2 cores are at 61c and the other 2 at 57c (while passing prime).

The only thing is that 0.94 recognize my cpu sometimes as a Q6600 or as a QX6500 hehe.

SaFrOuT
07-02-2007, 01:44 PM
ya 0.94 works perfectly while 0.95 is very buggy

but it is weird that it is not reporting it correctly

Quick question about the GO stepping:

Will the $266 Q6600 quads be available with such stepping, or is that reserved to the Xtreme parts?

There will be G0 Q6600, dont remember were i saw but some guy here in XS has ordered a few (ES i supose).

Yeah thats true. I have a Q6600 B3 and is much hotter than this QX G0.

BTW, i tought that i should have the multiplier unlocked upwards but the max i can put is 10 (P5K DLX 0311 bios), is that normal or is a matter of bios/mobo?

QXuZ G0 on QX6700 is much better then B3 stepping,
better overclocker.

QX6700/QX6850 unlocked up/down anyways so why pay the premium on an
QX6850 G0 when 6700 G0 just as good for cheaper.....;)

Awesome!

Pre-Ordered 2, one for me, and one for my brother (shocking that he even wants to go Quad).

Now, I'll just have to find someone to buy my E6600, capable of 4ghz. 3.6ghz with 1.32V

Thank you!

Seems you are right Bobble :( It is a Q6700 not a QX :(

I will keep the chip anyways as it looks good and the price was fine :D But i will talk to with the seller to to see if we can do something at respect as he selled (ebay) clearly as a QX.

Any of you could give me a roadmap where the Q6700 appears? I have been looking throught XS an google but didnt find any.

I plan on buying a Thermalright Ultra eXtreme and either an Asus P5K Dlx or DFI P35-T2R if that makes a difference for overclocking abilities.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I just hope this isn't gonna be a repeat of last year & Core2 Duo's. All the early engineering samples were hitting 4Ghz+ on air for benching & 3.8ghz Prime/Orthos stable easily. Most retail chips struggled to hit 3.6Ghz Prime/Orthos stable when first released, and unitl the "B" batches 4Ghz on air was near impossible. All these Quad G0 results we're seeing are engineering samples. Any retail results turn up yet? Quad core though, not dual. My B3 Q6600 does 3.3Ghz Prime orthos stable @1.36v load. It's 3DMark 06, OCCT, & 32Mb Pi stable @ 3.6Ghz same voltage, but not Prime/Orthos. Any further increase in voltage & it jumps to over 70'C @ load due to air cooling. I will try water soon, but I'm sure I can get 3.6Ghz Prime orthos stable. I'll get a G0 stepping as soon as they're available. I just hope I won't be dissapointed like I was with my first two E6600's.

As impressive as these results are, I'm skipping these and waiting for Penryn... hopefully the P5K and its apparent support of the 45nm can overclock them decently.

I don't think it'll matter. Before G0, I believe the Xeon had a lower TDP, but come G0, I believe they are the same (95W) which is lower than any of them besides the current and future clovertowns.

Geez, I don't know if that can even be done, but I'm not a expert like all these gurus here. Maybe one of them can give you the proper answer.

These babies need good cooling and air flow from what I have seen. I wouldn't chance a stock HSF with this chip.

I received a Q6700 g0 :) 3,6ghz with 1,4vcore and okay low temperatures like, 53-55 prime full load (water cooling, ambient ~ 26 celcius)

Is the Q6700, being a non-extreme version, going to have a locked multiplier?

Hello

im about to get the new Q6600´s G0 and im wondering if @ 2.66 it will perform the same as the QX6700?

i dont know what are the other differences between both of them, if not the numbers of clock and unlocked multi for QX6700?

I wonder if I should get one of these G0 Q6600s and sell off my QX6700...I have only been able to get my QX6700 to 3700MHz stable for 3dmark, but if these G0s can beat that, I might just hit the Buy button...

Should I?

veilsidebr,
Q6600 @ 2.66GHz = QX6700 w/ locked multi

andyaycw,
I gather G0 runs cooler and statistically needs less volts for a given freq but OC'ability doesn't differ much from prev steppings.

Nice, i cant wait to get my hands on one of those!

Im atm on air, no water, but i pretend to have water soon, so i will be greatly abble to overclock it.

Any recommendations on water coolers?

If i any get 3.7 ghz stable on air(Gemin 2 with 2 120mm evercool fans) i will be endlessly happy. :p:

My cpu for now, does just 1150 3dmark cpu score points, raising from 1150 to an impressive score of 6000 will be something similar to 0-300 km/h in a heartpounding 10 second time. :ROTF:

ps: i do 6345 3dmark 06's score points, with my GTS and overclock. Bad cpu.
