I honestly feel bad for AMD. What was their management doing with their R&D these last few years?

No, that was Barcelona. Server stuff. Phenom is the desktop; like Opteron/X2.

Edit: Heh, crossposting ftw.

No, you really didn't. Not at 2.0 to 2.5GHz. Trounced by the competition in everything on the desktop.

MB makers also told Barcelona will be delayed to November last weeks.

BTW We already have a K10 thread, don't make a new thread on any rumor you find on the net.

And how will things be different in Q1 ? Intel isn't standing still either.

And you know this because?

I am yet to see someone review a retail version of Phenom, so tell me please how can you possibly come here and say that as if it where a proven fact?

Mobo makers say AMD Phenom delayed until 1Q08, but AMD says launch remains set for 2H07 (update)

AMD has responded to this report by stating that the company's official launch schedule for Phenom remains the second half of 2007 and this schedule has not changed. The company added that it has not contacted motherboard makers concerning a delay to the schedule.

Yeah Digitimes has been spoon fed by some angry AMD partner all this time.Someone is not getting its piece of the K10 pie and has been FUDing about K10 all along. What mobo manufacturer could that be?Hmm

Now we have official info directly from AMD that Phenom is not delayed ,and "some" mobo manuf. source that keeps spreading these "news"(like nn said,it isn't news)

Has everyone suddenly forgot the clueless Digitimes reports about native 45nm QC part from intel coming in Q4?Really reliable and informed sources and writers,no doubt about that.

With Phenom set to not appear in 2007, several motherboard makers have made plans to decrease shipments of socket AM2+ motherboards and to increase those of Intel's platform, added the sources.

Product manager Ian McNaughton told TG Daily that the CPU is “most likely” to launch sometime in Q4 with processors being available on the day of the announcement. However, McNaughton said that AMD could not comment on actual computer systems being available for purchase at that time.

What is that contradiction supposed to mean?

Maybe something like AMD can take orders for it that day, but delivery might be in the future of that day. I wish they would just speak clearly.

But it sure looks like a safeguard aka. cover my ass tactic if you cant buy one that day.

Or it could mean that retail and OEM CPUs will be available on that date, but AMD is not going to stick their necks out and claim you can buy a Phenom PC from one of its customers on that precise date.

That would be like the 65nm launch? In other words, hide beind the OEM card for 0 actual shipped CPUs?

I really dont hope its anything like that.

65nm "launch" is rather pathetic. no actual PR events.

I'm having a hard time reading into AMD's statement, but it seems to imply exactly the opposite:confused:

I read it to mean that consumers will have their hands on Phenom about the same time as OEMs, thus AMD won't go out on a limb and say that Dell or whoever will have PCs with Phenom at hard launch. They seem to be implying that the boxed CPUs are a guarantee...pre-built Phenom PCs are not. Which is why I wonder about OEMs getting Phenom late...maybe not enough time to actually build and ship systems before the CPUs hit retail?

I think AMD learned their lesson. I wouldn't expect OEMs to get priority for Phenom

Exactly what I was thinking. Consumers of those OEM products don't generally know or care what is inside the machine anyway...they just want a good price.

Better to get early Phenom in the hands of enthusiasts. If this thing turns out to be fast enough, they can keep margins higher for a bit while they perfect the process and work out bugs. Start pushing product to OEMs once profits are rolling and yields are higher.

I hope;)

Well, why don't they just lie like they have for the last year or so? It sounds like AMD doesn't know when Phenom will ship. But they want the market to think it will come more sooner than later.

All AMD's done since Conroe's launched is BS anyone who'll listen. I posted what AMD and others told this one site. These guys aren't known for Bashing AMD. Dewd, that was hardly a Rant!

Take out the links and this is what you're calling a Rant:

Some rant, that's rich.

They already said November, there's no limb to go out on. Yet, you say no relevance? I said I don't think they know. Hell, why don't they just say it'll ship when its ready:)?

None of what I posted had anything to do with any supposed launch date, yet that's what you keep yapping on about.

Here is what the my posts were concerning:

DOES NOT FREAKING MATTER what the launch date is. Could be 3.5.2038 for all I care. Could be tommorow, could be December 31st. It does not matter. The statement is not claiming A DATE of release. It is claiming that CPUs will be available on the day of announcement, but actual Phenom-based PCs might not. Why?

Read more carefully and knock off the silly "Roflfloz3rs" BS.

When you quote my post and come in shrieking about AMD "lying" about release dates...and it has nothing to do with anything in my post...yeah it qualifies as a rant in my book.

The knee-jerk AMD bashing in this forum is reaching ludicrous levels lately. Can't even have a decent discussion anymore.

Oh WOW, some of the oldest "BS" Lines around, "read more carefully", "knee-jerk", "rant", "yapping", "silly", and you're bee-yotching about "reaching ludicrous levels". Honestly, you don't see that you're part of the frackin' problem? If you disagree, just say why and leave all of YOUR LAME BS "in quotes" out of it:rolleyes:

I have 5 computers running in my house, 3 Intel's and 2 AMD's. The system listed is my #1. The number 2 is an A64 3500+ that I still use a lot.

I'm saddened if* it's late. It means higher prices and less effort on Intel's part (Supply and Demand). Even Intel F@ns can't want that.
