Hi all,

In my future system I want to install a vapo on my 9800Pro/FX5900 Ultra but how?

I saw some pictures where they did it with C-"claws" but I'm kinda scared if there's some kind of a leek ^^

So what's the best way to do it? Maybe an how-to??

P.S. Sorry for sucky english

But isn't there going to be any toruble with "condens?"

Really leek at this :(

no matter how you mount it you'll always have to use insulation dude... what do you expect :p: improvise!
The back of the card will get very cold and form ice or get wet. Take appropriate measures.

anywayz, condensation is offcourse essential, you'll have to cover everything with foam. use C clamps to mount the vapo but watch out you don't slip / crush the card

I've got a prommy I wanna mount on my 9700 AIW too.

Has anybody else done this? Any brilliant mount methods, other than C-clamps?

Full insulation is a given. I have one tip that some might not think of.... fill the AGP slot with dielectric grease or something. Dont want the pins frosting up in there.

So what's the big deal with condensation? I've had a small swimming pool on hte back of my R9800 before...doesn't water have to be impure, like tapwater to be conductive?
Once heard a LN2 dude who said he uses NO condensation safeguards, The mobo freezes up like an icecube and he flips it upside down to thaw :)
No probs...But I've heard of so many that say their HW is messed up w/conden...so what's the deal??

mounting a vapochill to a videocard is alot easier then using C clamps to do it.
just take the mounting bracket, turn it about 45 degrees so it's on the corners of the vapochill head, cut two squares through the bracket, and use the hardware that came with the vapochill then to mount it on the videocard.

Charlie, even if it doesnt short something right away, there's always corrosion. Corrosion bad. We're talking vapor systems here, designed to run for a long time, not for a few hours like a LN2 rig.

So it's not easy easy to make everything work without condensation or leaks? Because It's not something you buy everyday a 9800pro or a FX5900Ultra so it has to be done quite good ^^

Its only realistically do-able for a few hours of benching... leaving it on the whole time is pretty pointless.

Just do some quick insulation and let the card dry after benching. I've had my cards covered in ice often enough, but they never cared. let em dry and bench again :)

Condensation shouldn't be a problem with the vpaochill using the heater strips that come with the vapo cpu kit on the back of the video card.

Spray the entire card with a waterproof clearcoat, like you would find at Home Depot. (don't worry, people spray cards with stuff all the time.)

This will prevent rust from forming on any metal it contacts.

you know, I know this is pretty ghetto, but I just point a large fan on the back of the card, alot of moving air keeps anything from settling on the back of the card.

simple, but effective.

I think I'll just go for a peltier on my videocard ;)
