Linux?

Anyone using linux? I was planning to use a new required computer, a pentium 3 1000mhz with 384mb ram crunching along, but after a NOT working copy of slax, an impossible ubuntu server edition I seem to be stuck, I cant get a working linux up and running with the graphical interface, had to use the ubuntu server because the desktop edition is to big to install for the poor 2.5gb harddrive, but cant get in to the graphical interface. Dont know what to do.

You could try debian. I have it installed here on my ibook (mainly because it would take to long to install gentoo on it ;) ) on a 3 gb partition, so maybe that would be worth a try. debian shouldnt be too big if you choose xfce or something as your WM, and there should be boinc packets available :)
