i had a laptop with a 512mb ram , i needed to upgrade to run vista and i had only 1 ram module accessible for upgrade so i added a 1gb of ram

now my cpuz is reporting that the 2 rams 1gb abd 512mb are running in dual channel mode , how is that possible when they are NOT identical rams ??

is there any way to know if the ram are really in dual ch mode ?

here are my cpuz screens

Well, another way to find out is to run Memtest86 in DOS mode and see if it tells you Dual Channel mode. The BIOS may also tell you if it's in DC or not.

Another way to see if the Dual Channel is indeed giving you a performance boost is to run some Sandra or any memory benchmark programs. Run it without the added RAM and run it with the added ram.
