my 2x 256MB OCZ PC3700 Gold ram arrived today and when i inspected each stick, I noticed that on both of them, the heatspreader and thermal tape weren't completely touching the ram chips like most memory with heatspreaders..

it looked like this from a side profile view where /\ represent the front and back of the heatspreader and || is the ram itself

/||\

of course it wasn't as far apart as here but you get the picture, the lower half of all ram chips weren't making full contact with the thermal tape

if i squeeze the heatspreader together it makes contact

anyone else have this problem ?

I wouldn't worry about it, the heat spreaders offer very little in the way of cooling anyway. They are more of a marketing gimic than anything else.
