What to get?

I have a 7900GS @ 610/1,740 MHz right now and I also have $200 and I won't have anymore money until sometime after September.

My question is should I wait untill I get more money and get an 8800GTS 320MB or go ahead right now and get the X1950XT.

This CPU is a AMD Athlon 64 4000+ @ 2.9 GHz and 2 GB G.SKILL ZX

What kind of improvement would I see from the X1950XT 256MB over the 7900GS or should I wait.

I likely will not go DX10 and Vista for a while.

I do play Oblivion.

My max res is 1280x1024

If you play oblivion, I would wait and get the 8800GTS 320mb. But, have you considered how much your 7900GS would bring in if you sold it?

Try and have a look at this months Custom PC, it's a UK computer mag and this month they have an extensive graphics card comparison. Prices are obviously different in the US but the X1950XT was the choice card for mid range. ColonelCain 's assessment is spot on. and in two months prices may have dropped significantly!
