Umm... why can't I do this again???: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6655619

I got 10,259 at 220, 515, I think it was... and now after having just turned on my pc, I try to run it, and I get a blank screen with nothing on it after a few seconds. :p

but seriously... do I just need to leave my computer on for a while and try again or something?

also... it couldn't have anything to do with this could it... While I was putting in my 80gig hd, my handed accidenly tapped/brushed up against one of those cylinder-looking-thingies-that-I-have-no-idea-what-they're-called on my GF3. So I felt of it and it felt kinda loose, or maybe not loose, but a teeny bit different than the other ones when I just barely wiggled it back and forth... or, is it a bad idea to even do that, too.... also one of the IDE cable caught one of those c-l-t-t-i-h-n-i-w-t-c while I was trying to move it... but I realized before I think it had time to bend it or anything...

ok, my question is this. HOW DELICATE ARE THOSE THINGS and IS IT POSSIBLE THAT BENDING ONE COULD DECREASE OC-ABILITY WHILE THE VIDEO CARD STILL WORKS. sorry for "yelling" but those are my main questions... maybe I should have just made them in bold... nah, too time consuming to put the little [ b ] [/ b ] things.

man, this post is sounding dumb. I'm tired. that must be what it is. but I am concerned and need answers none the less. don't we all. thanks!

Yea those little round things on your video card are capacitors, and yes if you broke off the lead soliderd to the mb on one it could posibly cause problems with your OC.

Also sproket you should update your sig with your rig so that you don't have to repeat all the important information over and over ! hehe

what video card are you using ? check to make sure the fan on it is working (if it has a fan)

hmm, it could like major slaughter said. But, if it isn't terribly lose I wouldn't think it would.

Are your ambient temps different? by much?

okaay.... so there's lead on the bottom of those capacitors soldered to the board? how would I know if that's broke... It doesn't seem to be very lose... I dunno. Howcome the video card still works and all though? I don't get it. oh well. the fan on it is still running as far as I can tell.

I hope it starts working well again. I'll eventually get a new video card. But for now. oh well.

My ambient temps? They might be a little warmer... would that greatly affect it? Hmm...

oh yeah, my sig

Itf they increased by much it could.

Like if you were in your room with your window open when it was 70 degrees in there at night. Then yu tried it this time and it was 95 degrees it could effect it.

yeah, also I turned the fan around that's on the side of the case so that it would blow into the case instead of suck air out. that was a bad idea. I just ran prime95 for 4 hours 44 minutes--stable, but my cpu temp was 50C. My max temp was like around 46C with the case sucking air out. I'm going to have to change that around asap. could very possibly be the reason my video card isn't stable too. I like the 3dmark score I was getting though... so I'm not going to let this stop me! ;)...

also, I've got a question... how come turning my virtual memory off seems to improve my 3dmark score? and yet, I can't leave it off cause then Unreal II has trouble loading textures.

Unreal II probably usesa bunch more RAM then 3dmark. When your running 3dmark it ca run just on teh system ram, and it doesn't have to access the virtual memory which slows it down.

When your playing UnrealII it uses more system memory, so it has to use the virtual memory.

Or that's my geuss anyway.

yep, your prob right... that's kinda what I was thinking. anyway... guess what! my new score: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6660465
10,266

all, I had to do was turn that fan back around on the side of my case. my ambient temps are better too--boy am I glad; it get's so hot here in my room. Finally got it cooled off. I also duck taped this other fan in my computer close to the heatsink. it's lowered my cpu idle temp from about 41 to 39C. So, that's cool.

anyway, it seems like it;s working pretty well now. I'm happy with it ;) I'll try my barton later... not sure when. well, that's all for this thread. thanks!

I had to drop my processor down, it was at 2400mhz, but it was idling at 46C, I had to give it 1.825 volts for it to be stable there. Then my ambient was like 32C. It was just too hot.

Anyway I'm rambling, glad you got it working:)
