Ok guys, need a second opinion...Just got a screenshot off a mate, which I think looks hella dodgy -

System meant to be:
E6600
Asus Commando
4GB DDR2-800
X1950 Pro 512MB

Thing is, he claims this score is stock CPU (bout right), but stock gfx? I call :bs:

SM3 result looks far too high...No?

Here is my score with a X1950XTX@750/2200Mhz.

Same SM3.0 score that 1950XTX overclocked is damn high for a 1950Pro... if it is true of course. I donīt think so

My thoughts as well...

X1950 Pro Crossfire then? Maybe he's added a second card on the sly and not mentioned it? He's not using any insane cooling methods either - just maintain's everything is at stock.

4GB ram should hardly make a difference, should it?

There is no way in hell that is a legit score. Differences between SM2.0 and SM3.0 are no where near that far with r58x. I know because I have an x1900XT here. Usually its 100-200 points.

Maybe x1950pro is different.. My stock x1900xt with 2.7GHz AMD was about 7.2k.

Just noticed...

The SS is at 1024x768 res, and he's covered up the screen res setting with the result - could it be he benched at 1024x768 for 6800? That'd make more sense...

Yes, I think that reuslt is BS.

Highest I can score @ stock is about 6k.
I dont know how could he do 6800 at stock.
Also you said CPU is also stock?
Also, thats Vista Ultimate SO? Scores are lower in Vista than XP for 3dmark as far as I know...

Its not he screen res. Difference cannot be this high between sm2.0 and sm3.0. If you zoom on on the score screen you can see there is a lot more fuzz around the hdr/sm3.0 than the other. This is photochopped and he either used 3dmark06 calculator or just threw that score in there. If you assume he gets 100 points higher in sm3.0, that would give him 2411/2511/2077 which is much more reasonable and closer to 6k.

This is single X1950XTX @756/1134 1280/1024 res.

I see what you mean about the fuzz, and the 3dmark06 calculator could be possible but I don't think he'd go to that much trouble.

I recon it's 1024x768. I ran mine at stock settings at 1024x768 and got 6,700 and he probably did some other tweaks - notice he's using the pro version which enables you to change the test res, the position of the score window to cover those settings and the screenshot at 1024x768 all make me think this is at the lower res.

Worst thing is he's getting all leary about beating me at 3dmark06 even with a lower card...

Well play the game........ lower your res and beat him lol

Ok so this is what I said after his baiting of me came to a head...

[09:48] me: fair enough, but i'm still the better overclocker - i've proved how high I can clock my stuff, whereas you've got to where you are with 'tweaks'
[09:49] him: d00d you could never be half the clocker I am and have done for years.. your only a boy
[09:49] me : ROFL....two words for ya
[09:49] me : PROVE IT
[09:53] him : have done for ten years mate, I dont have anything to prove my records are all over the internet, wheres yours little :banana::banana::banana::banana:?? now stop being a boy trying to bait the big dog as it bites..
[10:02] me : "have done for ten years...but can't prove it...blah blah blah"
tbh, don't care what you've done previously. either do some overclocking and prove it now, or STFU. Also, quit trying to pull the wool by dropping 3dmark resolution to 1024x768 in order to boost your score - seriously....
[10:02] him : Im not ya cheeky bastard!!!
[10:02] him : goes to show what you do though
[10:03] me : riiiiight...
[10:05] me : screenshot at 1024x786...
score positioned over the settings....
6800 points at stock WTF?
1000 points difference between SM2 and SM3 scores?
[10:05] me : oh and I ran at 1024x768 and got 7000 so :p
[10:07] him : I run it at defaults on software and tweaked the ram, old tricks new system.. graphics clocking is enabled but not clocked as of yet.. the CPU is at standard, The heatsink was removed last week to check tightness of the bolts on the clamp I put on and to get measurements for a new style clamp Im working on. So new paste applied and curing again. so dont try and bait me, I dont bite, I dont bet on :banana::banana::banana: either. I only do it for fun. its an adult thing
[10:09] me : I'm not the one who's been baiting..but...
whatever...

1,500 points increase via "old tricks"? Didn't realise lowering your res was a 'trick' Guess I'wait to see if he actually clocks his system then...

Cheers for your help guys.

Who is this person? You can tell him to come here?

Richie P
06-18-2007, 05:12 PM
No-one special at all...makes out like he's a big deal but from what I've seen (or not as the case is) all he does is run his mouth.

Could tell him to come here, but I work with the guy, so I'd rather keep it off the forums. Plus he's not one for posting on forums.

Nothing more to see here then guys, might as well close this one up unless anyone's got anything else I should bear in mind with his 'tweaked' (dodgy) scores?

Tell him to post the FPS and resolution to, this is my result with E6400@3Ghz, 2Gb 375 cas4-4-4-12 2T, Gigabyte DS4, x1950PRO 256MB 608/740:

The resolution for the screen shot is 1024x768. Possible he changed half way through the tests?

That score is impossible for a stock X1950Pro card on stock 3DMark settings (average is probably around 5k), even the WR for X1950GT/Pro is around 6.6k+.
