I found this in the Inquirer although it was released on Friday the 13th uggh; http://inquirerinside.com/?article=9988 This may seem prima facie as a PAT issue, however reading the entire article, one wonders about the process by which each chipset is designated. The term eludes me at present where they bin based on quality, and lowwr quality becomes the "budget" model? Can someone refresh my memory please?
Below is a quote from the article.
Intel warned that system manufacturers and users that attempt to overclock 865 chipsets using PAT (performance acceleration technology) may end up with systems that are not under warranty.
The stern warning sends out a clear challenge from Intel to motherboard makers including Asus, Epox, Abit and others that introducing a BIOS to enable elements of 875 technology in 865 chipsets is meeting strong disapproval
