sorry if there's already a thread for this, but I figure i post it anyway. i'm looking forward to seeing what this is all about.

http://multicore.amd.com/us-en/AMD-Multi-Core/Products/Desktop-PC.aspx

i'm also a big F1 fan. if my prediction is right, this is what amd is planning all along. here's what they'll do in the next few weeks. imagine a quad core rig with 1GB of ddr4 radeon 2900xt. This is the setup that i want and i got some spare cash for the 2900xt. i also read that the 1gb 2900xt is only $100+ more than the 512MB version. i hope the price on the phenom is competitive. i'm excited and hope that amd will be back in the game soon.

Yeah I am looking foward to finding out anyhow. This last system I built I stuck with AM2 and ddr2 in hopes of dropping in a Phenom down the road. My head said Intel my heart said AMD....

I just hope it pays off and the new phenoms can atleast keep up with if not out pace the C2D's or else its all a wash.

They havent really given much info as to what is happening on the 10th but most likely it will be nothing lol

I think we are in for a surprise. imagine amd giving intel a good blow by releasing phenom a few months ahead of time. imagine a phenom that runs cooler than a qx6700 or q6600 or whatever glued quad intel procs are out there. also imagine that it consumes alot less power. now coupled this proc with an am2+ rd790 board with a radeon 2900xt 1GB version. i think we'll see some benchmarks shatter by this setup. i myself have an am2 setup now and can't wait to upgrade to a 2900xt and quad cores. if all that i mentioned turns out to be a dream, then i'll rethink of joining the darkside. heres hoping that i won't end up doing that.

Does anyone else have this little feeling that AMD is maybe playing us or something? Maybe this is all a big joke...

I don't think amd is in the position to play jokes or can afford to play jokes on us loyal fans, stock holders, partners, and especially intel. if this thing turns out to be a joke, then it's the more reason for me to consider joining the intel crowd. anyone else reading up on the large volume of options on amd yesterday. everyone is speculating something big is going to happen to amd. i wonder what that is.

Ya I seen the call options are real high . This is not a good thing for amd.

I remember a long time ago when Amd was beating Intel by about 5% with the amd64 . I was a die hard intel fan but never ever did I sink to the level of these amdfans. I freely admitted that AMD 64 was a bit faster but always said in day to day usage I couldn't tell the differance. Which was true.

I hated it when someone would say your a Intel fanboy. True that maybe.
Yet I never claimed Intel could outperformance AMD 64 . I simple couldn't feel the differance at 5% . Now if it was say 20% I would feel the diferance as well as see the differances in TIME it would take to do certain task.

I always said I would remain with Intel products. If that makes me a fanboy fine.

But I never sank to the low levels of a few of the fanboys I have seen since C2D came on the scene. I was never in denial ever. Thats not the case with these guys however. I may be a dedicated Intel user. But these guys are xtreme fanboys who spread fud like there is no tomorrow.

1). K10 is broke and it needs debugged thats why the bad benchmark.

2). AMD is sandbagging .

3). The real K10 will be released this sunday at the F1 race in canada. Now if this is true point 2 above is correct. If point 1 above is true which is likely than point 3 is just more fanboy dreams and fud.

AMD has lied so much in the last year its fanboy's are following the path set by Hector and friends. Or many are AEG members(new AEG).

Reguardless I have to downgrade myself from Intel fanboy to dedicated Intel user. Now that I see what a true fanboy is.

Ok Informal you post just to flame me . Whats that . Lets go look at every post you and I have made in the last year and see who has the better content it sure as hell wouldn't be you. I got banned from the news section.

Lets see the post that caused this unfair ban . I follow every word written in these forums I was cheated screwed and not treated as an equal based on others post . We have all read.

LEts see that post that banned me from the news section. I believe right now it would show I was correct in my statement as history has shown it to be the trueth. So screw you and your offtopic post that sucked me into my offtopic post.

Informal your post may have content but fiction isn't my bag of tea. Your good a fiction . But nn step is way better fiction writter than yourself. Sorry nn but it's true. Both you guys should have been banned from news section along time ago based off of what I was banned for. I don't blame you for the bias that was used to ban myself but its SO transparent.

lets keep the conversation civil and not start anything here. I just wanted to post the link so that anyone following amd can look forward to on sunday. i know i'll be checking amd's site out and watching the race or whatever will be presented. i'm not going to set my expectation high so i won't be disappointed. everyone is a fan of something otherwise our lives will be pretty boring. time to check amd stock and see how it's doing. anyone else got infos as to what this 06.10.07 teaser is? i haven't been keeping track, but when will amd lift the NDA on barcelona or is that already done?

informal
06-08-2007, 03:10 PM
NDA isn't over yet.But in a few days ,AMD may very well spill more details on Desktop side of the roadmap ,showing some systems running what we all like(games). But let's wait and see. There is something in the name of that CPU,it's not named like that to fail :).

And Turtle, you were banned for a reason.Stop crying and derailing discussions in intel-only land and you will be fine.
And you posts contain a lot of grammar/syntax mistakes apart from being off topic, that it's not even funny anymore.

PS AMD sure did beat intel by a lot more than just measly 5% in the past couple of years, but why do i bother mentioning this to you..

I have a very bad english too... Perhaps you could help me to understand this short text?

AMD today announced three leading vendors attending Computex Taipei are unveiling their server platforms demonstrating the industry’s first native x86 quad-core solution, Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processors (codenamed “Barcelona”). “Barcelona” processors are expected to deliver up to 50 to 80 percent performance and performance-per-watt improvements on a broad range of server applications over similar current generation AMD Opteron processors. In addition, these quad-core processors are designed to be drop-in compatible (following a BIOS upgrade) with all existing AMD Opteron processor-based systems using low-power DDR2 memory, while also enabling new platform capabilities such as those being demonstrated today.

There's no way they could launch K10 tomorrow. None of the news sites even got an engineering sample. I think it'll just be AMD announcing their Phenom models and maybe a vague launch date. I'm an AMD user and fan, but they simply lagged behind in this round, there's no hop in getting K10 anytime soon. If they are going to launch something, it'll could only possibly be a dual die Athlon X4 (just a wild guess).

Well, personally, I'd say that there is nothing special really. The biggest thing they'd do is to release Phenom - on paper.

Or if they are going to run benches, Intel will come and rape them with their own rig. :|

Hint as of when NDA on Barcelona will be lifted!

At the CTO Summit, AMD laid out a fully finished 300mm wafer to touch and photograph, and we were shown specifics on the fab rollout schedule for AMD’s 45nm process. We got an advance look at new AMD/ATI chip-set technology as well, along with a completely new and radical AMD CPU, the nondisclosures on which lift this month. AMD is not running behind Intel. It is simply not practicing reactive engineering, and if you pay attention, you’ll see that AMD’s take on 45nm process, 300mm wafers, desktop chip sets, and dual-core mobile architecture are more than mere snapshots of the marketed leading edge, which is a coat of gloss on the present. AMD, through its partnership with IBM, defines the leading edge. Watch.

well one would assume they would pull something considering that they had 1 of the world's best design teams working on K10 for 3 years straight...
To put that in perspective, It took Intel's Best design team about that long to go from the Pentium M to Core2Quad... Just a thought...

I honestly hope so.
Intel boards/chipsets irk the living sunlight out of me. IMO, OC'ing isn't that much fun with C2D than it was with K8.

AMD has a flavour of ATi to it now.....:D lol let's hope it's not a paper launch for their sake and that these CPUs are at least half decent ..........that cinebench figure is not inspiring at all :(
